"only one copy of elite dangerous launcher can run at a time" error

Hi Folks,
I'm new to this game and purchased it via Epic. UnfortunatelyI can't start it, because I only get an error message that says "only one copy of elite dangerous launcher can run at a time"
I already looked at the task manager, but there is no instance of the EDLaunch.exe running. Restarting the PC doesn't help. Reinstalling the game or the launcher doesn't help. Any ideas?

i get that message somtimes though........... cause the app is open in the taskbar and i hit the desktop icon not realising its already open in the taskbar (which req a click to open)
in the task manager(cntrl alt del) though it don't actually show till the game is launched from the open launcher

Look for any/all processes accessing your Elite Dangerous directory - Resource monitor will show processes in more detail.

minimised -> no, I got the error also after a fresh boot of the PC
run a copy off steam -> I got he game from Epic, not Steam. But anyway, the error shows up even when I try to start the "EDLaunch.exe" from the game directory
Disabled EGS overlay -> yes, with no result
AV doing anything weird -> what is AV? Audio Video? doesn't see something.
Resource monitor -> doesn't show anything at all.

P.S.: starting the EDLaunch.exe as admin doesn't help, BTW

Well then: Disabling the virus scanner solved the problem, thank you very much! :)
