I'm sort of expecting this with the Kickstarter for the Elite Dangerous Book Survivor.

had a couple of updates but I'm feeling matey has done a runner already,.

What's sad is that the actual design for the game was already finished prior to the Kickstarter, made by a couple of guys who had been working on it for 10 years. The Kickstarter was run by a 'publishing company' so 'it' could make and ship a physical product with a board, rule-book, and figurines. Aside from a contract, the designers didn't really have anything to do with the publishing company.

Because their contract was broken, the designers now have the copyright again, and I think they're going to release a print-your-own version for free. They're actually out of pocket, as no money from the Kickstarter went to them, and they had to hire lawyers to sort out some of the mess left behind.

Well, he has had the courage to give explanations. Others would have disappeared without news. I do not like to be in his place, and in the place of backers. I must say that if I am engaged for a Kickstarter was after careful consideration. And also because it was Elite, and a real company with 20 years of existence, dozens of employees and a director named David Braben. Otherwise, I do not like the Kickstarter system, in which we give the money to get something hypothetically in the future.

That's why I felt totally at ease with backing Frontier Dev. A well-known company which knows how to do project management, a well thought-over product and even several years of 'Skunk-works' that showed us something during the campaign. And many, many people backing, which means a lot of (legal?) force if something goes wrong...

I've always seen kickstarter as a sort of internet public version of dragons den, the problem with it is no matter how stupid or unworthy a product may be there is always some idiot that goes ......'oooooooooooo I'm in'

Elite:Dangerous as has been pointed out was a pretty safe bet really so that's why I had no problem with donating money and jontying up....

try Kowking it in the nuts from now on!! ;)

I have now sought help for my Kickstarter antics and have resigned to not looking at the website again... I have pledge more money to 'bollox' than I could have done buying EVERYONE i know a copy of the finished game...

I have no concerns about any project backed and I would do it again GOD DARN IT!!! in a heart beat... I love being able to help these projects over the lines. And should the end products be amazing.. I will be proud to have played a small part in the projects.

And the end result of it all.. I ended up here... meeting you lot. Already got my monies worth!!!
