Open is glitched? Not a single CMDR in Tenche

Hello,
I wanted to do a little defence of traders in Tenche, but I logged out and back in to see that all players are gone from the system. Multiple restarts later, sill not a soul. This is the current trade hotspot, so why is no one here for me?
Edit: So for some reason this has become a open vs solo flaming thread. Proceed with caution -__-

Might want to give it some time, as Matchmaking can take its due time.

Ane beware time of day is absolutely critical... If you're trying this way outside peak playing hours for your location, don't expect to see many folks around.

THanks. Hopefully they return so I can get my dose of pew pew :(

Defense of traders? In what? Solo or private group mode? Who in their right mind would fly a multi million trade ship in open? That's madness. Especially on a high traffic area like a luxury trade route.

Call me mad.
I always fly Open. And I trade in a multi million trade ship. And I never NEVER combat log out.
Well I don't see a point unless you like griefers dumbfire spamming you or blowing up your ship for no other reason for a cheap laugh. You'll change your stance soon enough when you see there are better places to run the luxurys. I never fly in open anymore after finding the mobius group.

At one point there were idiots dropping hundreds of tons of junk cargo in front of the station and all around the luxury traders, in effect killing performance for a lot of people due to the lag it creates. There were also some folks who decided it would be fun to sit inside the station with cheap ships spamming dumbfires so folks with CWIS/PDS systems on their ships would get nuked by the station and it's patrols.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to find that most of them decided to do their trade runs either in Solo or Group mode in order to avoid the lunacy.

I've played quite exclusively in the open, seeing a human piloted ship that could actually be dangerous to you is the main fun of it. NPC:s offer no challenge unless you'll do your best to get some challenge out from them, but even a single CMDR Cobra can actually be dangerous. I really can not see why someone would rob the fun from themselves.

Since we don't have the official stats it's impossible to say how many fly in open vs the other modes, but I have a feeling that the numbers are much higher than some people seem to think. ;)

Amazing how this thread got totally derailed to the usual forum arguments over petty nonsense. I for one usually prefer to trade in open as it is more fun and interesting. If there is an overly large amount of greifing I may jump to solo a little, but not for long.
To answer your questions, yes this was open, yes people fly expensive trade ships in open, and yes I was there to defend them in a luxury trade route.

as I said, I trade in open unless things get intolerably bad, as in multiple murdering commanders (which only happened once). If you prefer mobius, more power to you, but dont go telling people their preferred method of playing is inferior and that they will change their stance just because you have different taste.

I really think the instance system is completely a disaster, sometimes i arrive at a system and it's overpopulated, and if i come back in the next minutes there is nobody, i don't feel i'm in a persistant universe or in the same dimension as other players.

Also everytime i follow a low energy wake of other player, i never see anybody once i exit supercruise, and the last weird thing i saw was when i finally could join to a friend in normal space, and i could see him, but not the anaconda he was shooting at, i tell you...weird.

Still there are maaany things to fix.

It usually works better then that for me.

And I don't see the point in limiting my interaction with other CMDRs to a small group of players. I've actually enjoyed being robbed at gunpoint. And yes... I've been killed for no reason while carrying a full cargo hold of rares. It makes a better story then the times I've boosted in a station with a cargo full of palladium. I enjoy the risks. I enjoy the adrenaline rush when I see a player piloting a viper pull up behind my Type 6. I enjoy negotiating with a pirate to spare my ship for a share of my cargo. Will I get those experiences in Mobius?

Who in their right mind would fly a multi million trade ship in open?

Answer: those among us who aren't afraid of their own shadow.

Question: Who in their right mind would bother grinding for a ship worth multi-millions if all they wanted to do was fly it around in a completely risk free environment? Isn't part of the point of that to get some kind of edge? Unless your end game is simply to explore (more power to you if it is) what else is there? Trading for ever? To what end?

ED has attracted a special type of gamer demographic, that is for sure. Some people around here need to man up

In theory there might be enough players already in a location to formed a maxed-out instance in which case I guess you will spawn there all on your lonesome. You'd have to be very unlucky for that to happen consistently though so it suggests there is some other explanation.

I got bored with SL grinding in a T7 and went away for a day to bring back my viper to do some fighint, thinking this is the time to enjoy open play. as the original poster said however, everytime I appear I see one or two human commanders in freighter (with no shields mind you) just running away into SC.

No pirates, no griefers, nobody. just me. oh well i'll try the nav beacons then.

I play in open all the time, usually see a couple of humans per session, (I'm in the Anlave area , but re-locating today to somewhere better), interdicted one in a vain
attempt to steal his cargo, typical luck though, he was flying empty on the way to a pick up...

But then I follow brave sir Robin when humans try to pirate me
Brave Sir Bill ran away
Bravely ran away away
When danger reared its ugly head
He bravely turned his tail and fled
Yes, brave Sir Bill turned about
and gallantly , he chickened out

Seriously though, I think there should be a penalty for playing solo such as 20% off all trade prices... you want the credits... then learn to risk everything in open..

Bill

flying a brand new T6 loaded with gold and 50 credits left in your account in open gives a whole new meaning to the words 'squeaky bum time'
