Open Letter to Fdev DECALS, By the CANONN

Did you spend days and weeks making videos and PR stuff? How about use your own money to buy Fdev goods and give them to your "Friends" or maybe design and Print
hundreds of sets of tin foil stickers, send them around the world promoting the game and your player group ? No ... hmm ok please feel free to post your opinion elsewhere !

Maybe, just maybe, you shouldn't be posting an "open letter" on a public forum if you cannot handle criticism. Donald Trump is not a role model.

Why not just make the decals and let people choose what they like to put on their ship, without trying to vet the impossible?

If you wear a badge on your ship, its for pride- I love my Elite combat decals, any group / power should be pleased I wear their decal as its showing support. Personally I think its silly restricting decals, as firstly they are too small to be used as identification, and secondly it would be a horrendous task trying to sort out who is entitled to use them to begin with.

And Powerplay powers need decals- it was in the Powerplay video.

Now THAT I agree with. No need to put artificial limits on those decals - let people show their affiliation of choice, with pride. Only exception that might make sense is Powerplay, but even there I 'd be fine with it being open to all.

The problem, as I see it, is finding a way of determining WHO gets such a decal. I posted a few times on the Barnacle megathreads. Do I qualify? The moment Frontier starts handing out a free decal then they have to start figuring out who actually gets one. What is the criteria?

I figured a decal would indicate one is allied with Canonn. Toward that end, I spent a couple of hours today grinding Canonn missions, with the idea that I would need to be an ally to get the decal, should it ever come about.

This sounds like a decent idea, until you realize that your reputation with a faction will decay down to 75%, leaving you friendly rather than allied. As a result, people in the Colonia bubble who've done a lot of work with Canonn and want to have Colonia as their home would then have to embark on a 54,000 light year journey every time they want to put a Canonn decal on a new ship.

Why is this in the Power Play sub forum, then it is about a Player Group that is apolitical and stays out of Power Play, getting a Decal?
