You are in the wrong place.

Oh yes, I am right where I belong, playing in the back yard. And this is the back yard, I'm not exactly around the block, or even on the other side of town. No, I'm still in the back yard. You're welcome to join me, but you'll need to get dressed and actually leave the house.

Some people always feel like the opinions they agree with are the "superior" opinions, but that is also just their opinion and not a fact.

It is always funny when they are opinions that contradict with the opinions of the people who developed, created, and run the very game they want to change ^,^ And yet they still think their "opinion" is accurate.

You folks got useful things to say or just meaningless tripe?

Anyway, here's one of the things that just slays be about the PvE crowd - y'all want to retreat to some mythological past about whatever Elite was supposed to be and you appeal to your gods until you're blue in the face.

Thing I love about Open and PvP players? They consistently see and execute upon the amazing possibilities this game provides as it exists right now. Beyond that? They dream about a creative kind of future Elite: Dangerous could be.

I want to be inspired - not whatever it is y'all think you're doing.

Seriously? I am going to need a bigger shovel then normal with this crap...See this is where the humor is... talking all "righteous" and supposedly noble while at the same time being as insulting as you can be.

You ask if we have useful things to say and to quit speaking "meaningless tripe" only to then disgorge a plethora of shockingly condescending meaningless tripe. There is no "mythological past" there is the game we are playing that you gripe about. There are no "gods that we appeal to" just the devs who are continuing to develop the game. You wax on about Open and PVP players "consistently seeing and executing upon the amazing possibilities the game provides as it exists right now (the last part I find ironic from all the "Give open this, give Open that threads"). While all the while blatantly ignoring that the PVE crowd is doing the exact same thing... consistently seeing and executing upon the amazing possibilities the game provides as it exists right now. Both PVP and PVers dream of what is to come in the game. You just make the huge assumption that YOUR gamestyle is fun and others' are boring and that only one style is having fun. PVErs don't mind PVPers having fun, they do mind some of them trying to drastically alter the game or force them to PVP when they clearly do not want to.

And lastly, you are so wrong it hurts.. and your high horsed "I want to be inspired- not whatever it is y'all think you're doing" snipe is pure poppycock. Because you know what we are doing... the exact same thing you are doing, playing the game. We may play it a little differently, but we still play it. And if that is too hard for you to understand, then there's the door.

I could personally care less whether some want to be "inspired". PvP players have had their say... and their way, for years now.

Apparently they've failed to make a difference in Open, regardless of having their own sandbox and ability to engage other players at will for any reason, any time.

I'm really hoping FD comes to their senses and realizes the sensible move is to stop trying to hit a moving target with the competitive crowd. They're sure as hell not very appreciative of what they've been given so far, so perhaps you'd see a lot more from those who you have less "maintenance" from. A lot less demand on financial aspects regarding "client/server" networking code changes, a lot less demand on coding and resources, a lot less demand on constant "balance" changes for player versus player interaction, etc.

If this were a subscription game where FD was funded constantly I could see where such issues would take precedence... but for a game where people pay a fee once and play as often as they like, it only makes sense to stop trying to cater to consistent demands for such things. Let them go to SC- and they'll be back later once the novelty wears off. The grass is always greener on the other side.

Time to call their "bluff".

Oh boy, this discussion... again. Can someone remind me why the Hotel California tread was locked again?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Braben mention that the game was primarily developed as a PvE game with PvP elements, but still fundamentally PvE centric? I believe he did, though as for when that statement was made (before or after realese), I do not know.

I'm fine with the modes the way they are and will continue to play in both Open and Private Group (And Solo when deployed overseas) and while I welcome the idea of an Open PvE mode, I'm not holding my breath because FDev have, time and time again, shown no interest in changing anything; such as the group options that Robert pointed out. FDev has stated that they're well aware that the majority of their player base doesn't engage in PvP; but again, won't do anything about it.

Also as an aside, to those that say PvP doesn't exist in Mobius, that's not 100% true. PvP does exist though under certain circumstances and nowhere near on the scale of PvP in Open; I think CZs are one instance where PvP is allowed.

Here is something useful for you;

Your opinion does not matter. Neither does mine, or anyone else.
The only opinion that matters is Frontiers, which is lead by David Braben OBE.

His game, his rules.

*Factual* is the wording you were looking for when talking about Elites past.
As all prior incarnations of the game were single player only, they were most definitely PvE only games.

Nothing "mythological" about that information - you can download old copies of Elite and see for yourself.

If you want to be "inspired", get off the computer and go use your own imagination.
You'll get more inspiration from the real world than a fake one you do nothing but complain about.
