Open only content?

Also take into account the fact that XB1 players with Silver XBox Live only cannot play in Open.

So these people will not be able to take part of 'The Hunt', all the way through? SMH!

To clarify.

There was an issue with the first phase of the hunt, this latest clue should help solve that.

Elements of the hunt will require you to be in open, but you will have multiple chances to get the clues yourself.

But that only works if they actually inform their players that it is open only content.

The cynic in me says that if they'd done that, the poor actors would have been met by several wings of roided FDLs. The event is called the hunt after all.

This is so funny..

There was an issue with the first phase of the hunt...

Why don't you just say that a human player owned you when you tried to start the event and had to deliver it another way because you don't understand the open player base.

And you wonder why Möbius is busting at the seams with players and requests to join.

So? If the game had decent crime and punishment systems... lol.

I also do not see how the Hunt relates to having to hunt down which game mode a player should be in to progress a story line, unless I have missed something which brings me right back to my original question :)

I'll sit this one out. If FDev intends for up to 64 players (32 on PC, 32 on XBox, soft instance cap for players) out of the whole playerbase to experience the content, I'd much rather save myself the effort and do something useful instead.

I kinda like this approach, make it more interesting. I don't think this is "open only content", more like FD using tools to make commanders to meet and work together.

How's that working out then for the xbox community who apparently aren't "open" enough to be included ?

Or the players who chose to play in private groups for "reasons" ?

Or the players in Australia who can't be instanced with the UK people due to shoddy netcode ? (based on reports from another thread)

Or the players who have to play solo due to poor internet connections / "reasons" ?

Basically .. stop being such a fanatic - this is a multiplayer game, granted, with the FD implemented option to play it solo or in a PG, so when you exclude certain communities due to their preferences that causes ill feelings.

I believe Liqua was referring to your seemingly constant approval of everything ED/FD

I have been constantly disagreeing with them. You can check with my forum posts.

I however don't use hyperbole to describe my disappointment.

It certainly made sure I forget where my wallet is next time they ask for money.

Competitions were one thing, but story content is unforgivable.

Yeah, something like this.

Never mind that, it doesn't actually add anything. According to the steam charts, there are 9334 active players as I write this. A game instance can have 32 players in it IIRC. That means that the odds of running into one of the actors as you're playing (assuming that every single player is in the right system) is about a third of one percent. If there are fewer players your odds go up, but FD is actively guiding players to that system, so you'd expect a large percentage of those 9000+ people to be there.

I used the word 'Seemingly' for a reason .. the truth here is that Open only content on a major story line (no matter how little) is not good.

One thing that did make me smile was that the event ship in question (if it was the right one) was intercepted and destroyed by SDC. I tip my hat to them :)

I think steam only notes the ones who launch the game through steam. Other open it with out steam.

Remember a thread about this a year or so ago.

Being excluded from content if you're not playing in Open seems a bit unfair, but then it depends on what that content is. I guess there's a lot of ideas they would want to implement that are only workable with the whole community involved..

If it's open only, then really bad move. Yes, there is only a small delay in between what open players learn and share to solo players...but the principle of this doesn't look particularly inspiring as to what direction things are heading. This from a 99% of the time here in solo player.
