Open-Only in PP2.0?

Plan your exploration return and take a taxi. Would have to be tested but if you don't have too far to go, it might work
That hole could be closed in a while. For that comes to mind 2 facts:
  • when doing passenger mission with wanted NPC(s) it shows "illegal passenger" (or something similar).
  • if on-foot I've managed to reach my ordered Apex, but settlement already in alert, hostile and saw me boarding shuttle they will shoot that Apex down, if I remember correctly.

  • Now, kids, we have unlimited number of sandboxes so you can take any one for each of you.
  • Nooo! Everybody must play in mine and with me!
  • or??
  • Or... or.. or they are not cool any more!!

But the more I see of PP2, the more its really the next gen BGS, and merits a new currency based on effort.
And, from the last 148 pages of debate and frustration by the "must PvP for PP 2.0" advocates, it really must have its own mode, with no block lists, mustn't it?

After all, PP is the only aspect of the game that is actually competitive between players, if a player isn't willing to be attacked by another, they really shouldn't be in PP 2.0

Speaking as an Ultima Online veteran, there was no need to “balance” the two shards, because bizarrely Felucca was a much nicer place to play compared to Tramnel, despite it being an Open PvP environment. Between much less competition for limited resources, PvPers who were focused on fighting other PvPers, and the usual suspects fleeing to Trammel to to trick others into cooperating with their own death, it was simply my preferred place to hunt for tailoring supplies.
Also, you tend to be nicer to people if there's a risk of them turning around and smacking you in the mouth. :D

Putting limitations on ship builds to stop some players cheesing it that way would be a nice start....
Assuming the game continues to be built around "I attack you and you run away": Is there any change that could get you interested in participating? Maybe not as a primary activity; but any change where you'd be willing to periodically give your time to that style of gameplay?

If the PPP prove to be a repetitive and relatively inescapable interruption when engaged in "clean" activities then pledging at all is less likely, unless my "running away" improves. If not, and current levels of "running away" are required then it might not actually need changing.

On the understanding that the "I" here relates to opposing NPCs. Still zero interest in direct PvP.

Why? Thats actually part of the game and nothing stops you from building differently. Its a different matter when the ultimate shield is to quit and restart.....
Since I've been playing, I've mostly been in open, I've not once experienced anyone doing this. If folk are doing this to you, perhaps there is something about the way that you are playing that is causing it?

Try being a pirate :D
I may well do that soon, but will only be targeting NPC's! If power play pans out though, I'm hoping that there will be good opportunities for PvP in some fun and well balanced ways.

That said, I'd have no qualms about piracy in appropriate places, as PvP.

I'm kind of wondering if the law enforcement with power play 2 might adjust the balance of where things take place, somewhat.

"I" is Rubbernuke and friends :)

I'd never shoot at you; on purpose. I don't even want people shooting healing beams at me. Never heard that sound before and it nearly gave me a heart attack :(

No, at least not from me. What I want- better NPCs, more balanced modes and Open thats had some thought put into it.

V1 certainly should have been Open, V2 is really knowing if modes are balanced enough so that you can't haul or merit farm in safety.

The only time when merit farming would take places, if obsessive folks from open who are involved in factions do it. No way a lone player in any of either solo or groups would do that.

So why spoil the game for them?

That'll be a no then - as PvP (on the receiving end) has thus far proven to be a tedious and predictable waste of game time.

In V1 it was solo and PG that were used to 'ruin it' given each week for years rather than play you'd watch them slowly sour things. This untouchable 5C is what we are trying to avoid again, please don't lecture me about who is doing what.

Used by who though, that's the entire point here. I'm not lecturing anyone, I'm expressing my opinion.

All of which could be accommodated by PP 2.0 having an exclusive mode.
After all, if one is fanatic about PP, why would one not want to spend their entire PP gameplay with like-minded individuals?

Then the remainder of the game could remain as enjoyable as it currently is.
