Open play Commander attack - not wanted etc...

This didn't happen to me, so don't shoot the messenger, however that said, I've increased my armour to composite, I'm wearing a flak jacket, and I have thick skin.. So awaiting the bombardment..

Thread: See alot of folk moaning about griefers, no point kills in open, I.e. Not wanted, no bounties, no cargo, clean status, mostly harmless etc.. You know where I'm going, so what would be the point of killing said pilot.. None except self gratification that you could, I suppose, so an idea occurred, to stop this and to encourage more folk to give it a go in open play, I'd suggest a fine for the said killer active for 48hrs to the tune of the amount of rebuy insurance cost of the commander you killed this multiplies with the amount of additional kills in this manner and extends the time the fine is valid for by 24hrs for every occasion, the bounty placed on the perpetrators should be the same as the fine. Thoughts ? And as I said awaiting bombardment, pirates admit its too easy to get away with so lets increase the danger and improve the bounty hunting rewards.

Given newbies will be in sidewinders and so the fine would be what 1600 Cr does it really make that much difference and tough love it may be but if your in something with a higher rebuy cost you should know how to fight
.
People are play THEIR way so let them, last night I was in a type base type 7 with no shields probably about the worst possible ship and configuration to face another player and still managed to avoid a player who wanted to pirate me.
.
Either he was a rubbish pirate or I'm a better pilot than I think I am but even when badly disadvantaged as I was I still got away.
.
Like it or not people are playing how they want to play if that self gratification then its not my place to tell them they are wrong - it is my place to show them they are wrong by defeating them

I like this.

1 kill an anaconda
2 let your friend kill your sidewinder (wich will turn the fine to dormant state, and redeem the bounty)
3 be happy

Who said anything about fines going dormant, its on you for 48hrs, either you pay it or you don't, if you don't you face the possibility of not landing without being attacked by police or local security, as for a sidey taking out an anaconda, probably possible, would like to see it, commander against commander, david and goliath maybe, lol.

Bamber, I here what your saying, but its not just newbies, If you were flying around in a conda, or t7 as you said, and got attacked by a vulture a ripped to shreds and lost everything wouldn't you want the perpetrators to be fairly dealt with to add an extra level of depth to the game, there are loads of threads on this, fd even launched a thread on the matter, not sure what happened to it, but hey ho, just an idea.

Still dont know why they dont make anyone who kills a clean player have to pay that players insurance.
Because that would be stupidly broken, doesn't make any sense lorewise and would probably kill Open play altogether.

As annoying as it may be to be the subject of pointless murder, there are NPCs in the game that will interdict you and attack you for no reason. They're not pirates, nor are they confused bounty hunters. I believe Frontier calls them psychos. It makes sense for players to fill this role as well because frankly... someone has to be the villain. That feeds people like me who like to escort and bounty hunt and adds a little bit of danger to the game overall.

Now, to your point about penalties lingering, I think you're going to like the coming crime update. Some things that give you bounties currently (like shooting another friendly on accident) will hopefully be turned into fines (that eventually turn into bounties if not paid) and anything that gives you a bounty will likely give you a larger one that can't be paid off for a certain amount of time. People will remain wanted for much longer than they currently do. This should act as a disincentive for players to play the psycho role and should reward bounty hunters with a little added fun when someone does do something wrong. :)
