I have this super simple answer to all of this. Choose the mode that best fits how you want to play and how much risk you are willing to put up with.

Yes, yes, this or that would be nice, but this or that doesn't really exist in ED, and is unlikely to ever exist. So pick your mode and be done with it

Didn't read the whole thead, or all of the other 37 theads like it......

Why not simply make insurance "No Fault"
If you initiate an attack on a CMDR with a lower bounty than yourself, then no insurance payout. You loose the ship and all mods on it
