Open PvE

I still haven't seen one concrete valid reason why we shouldn't have a formal "PVE All" choice. I'd like to hear some actually. As side from the insults.
----------------------------
Nor I, but anytime anyone mentions having an all PVE section, as mentioned there would be during the games development, these threads start and they always seem to rapidly deteriorate into the, your cowardly/carebear/scared of PVP, rants. When all some people want is to be able to play the game their way in their own time without the PVP element.

I appreciate others want a pure PVP game and in an open PVP group they have that. Problem is some not all, feel that those not wanting PVP should only be able to play solo or private groups and have no right to ask for parity and what was announced would be in the game.

I'll bash all of your heads together if you don't all wind it in a bit and settle down.

This uberthread will just keep going round and round in circles getting more and more heated otherwise.

If it get's any worse we're going to have to start timing it out so people can take a breather from the topic.

Yes. Please. There are far more productive discussions about game mechanics going on at the moment. The 'everybody is going to leave open if you don't do X' discussions happen a bit too much.

Ahh, a valid point!! You know I always enjoy your posts. Nothing's ever perfect. By the way nice thread ya opened up their. Good read. I'd like to keep it just like "Mobius". but there would more than likely some administrators to
police the group. $$

I always try to be fair and generally take the time to edit the hell out of anything I post. Most people tend to read something that goes against their views and immediately discount whatever points are made just on that bias.

I probably wouldn't play a pve mode and i'm pretty much all open but I do believe it will be beneficial for the game. If someone is happy playing with friends against the ai, fair play. The easier it is to do the longer you keep a customer who's more likely to spend money on ship skins and expansions which in turn benefit all players through increased development time.

I also think it would lead more people to open through players making friends in pve and then feeling safe enough to go in to open with a bit of back up. Most won't but they're still playing customers wanting to play a game the way they were promised.

Who has the bigger player base doesn't matter, this isn't a body part measuring contest :p

At what rate is Mobius growing now? Looks to be about 100 CMDRs a day. It's at 6900 now, and was in the 5000s when I started this thread not so long ago

PLEASE, FD, the game is not working as you envisaged right now, because PVP is possible some think its what ED is about, the core of the game. Please consider:

FD should be able to replicate Mobius, link it to the menu & call it "OPEN PVE", Mobius only had to boot 4 people ever, FD could run PVE on the same honour system, 1 tick box "I agree if I attack another CMDR in PVE outside of a combat zone, with the said CMDR having chosen the other faction I will pay the full costs of my mistake, not be allowed to join that group again & suffer 50 lashes (ok maybe a week in PK hell or solo). FD have the data to make it work & ensure it is free of problems from day 1.

It works both ways m8. Some people bought the game purely for the pvp so for them pvp is the core of the game and both play styles are equally valid.

But yeah, I still support Open Pve :)

Don't even say that out loud man... If it wasn't for all the great cmdrs I've met in Mobius... It's a whole other game...

I know I am sorry (Shsss don' t tell anyone that I was suggesting an empty threat)

Mod's volunteer to spend their free time keeping these forums "sane", Mobius didn't volunteer to spend 40 hours a week clicking "accept".

Why should a player (Mobius) have to administer a private group that FD should have included since day 1.

I think it's fair to say the Elite Dev's might just be a little snowed right now. I think they have literally a ton+ of stuff coming at them right now. Unlike many that post here, I think they have done a really, really great job. Are they perfect? Are anyone of us perfect? Still, I love their work. Remember their a small team, but they have made me a believer.

I think it's quit possible we'll get our mode, if not we have solo and group. Things could be much much worse. But as I said, "I'm a believer".

A quick "we'll look into it" would suffice. Not a single comment from FD so far.

Thing is when dealing with online communities companies generally play things close to the chest. So you usually don't get simple "We'll look into it" responses, as the the player base generally takes that as Holy Gospel according to Devs and extrapolate it as the second coming, and when nothing happens or if its delayed or doesn't come the way the players want meets fan. Or well thats based my experience with other MMO companies, notably Blizzard.

This is exactly what they have done concerning the Steam key debacle though:

"We hear you, we understand this wasn't very clever of us, and we are indeed looking into it."

Having 1 private individual hosting a game mode for +7000 players surely should raise some eyebrows at FD?

Thats why I said usually. Even Blizzard makes a statement they can't honor occasionally, but they've had 10 years of experience in fast talking around customers. In the case of Steam, they have said that they are 'looking into it' but thats not enough to some, people are incensed that they haven't responded fast enough or given enough detail and if they come back and say 'no we can't give you keys' people will exploded saying that they lied (even though they promised nothing).

Yes, a single player hosting 7000 other players should raise eyebrows. Really? It's up to 7000 now? Last I heard from Mobius was when he posted 6400 or something. If they do put in a PvE only mode, It'd be nice if they gave him a nod or something.

I've never been against a PvE mode, just couldn't see the need for one. At last in all the ranting, here are some good points well made.

That argument is the exact reason I simply didn't buy ED and got 2 totally PvE games on Steam instead -- PvE and PvP can't co-exist in an open world.

Can't help wondering why you are offering comments on a game you don't have, (or indeed, why you are in these forums at all).

Allowing some kind of "registered" group that isn't tied to a specific player might be an easier solution.

There's a good idea. Virtually no dev work needed, but would still need to be moderated by someone.
