open/solo play, autopilot, emergency call

Hi all!

I am quiet sure that these suggestions happened before in some way, I want to write down my own ideas.

My first suggestion would be to have only open game mode. Atm the game is basicly a single player game with multiplayer possibilities. I understand the players who play alone or with some few friends and do not want to be ganked. So they play in their own little universe. But why we have this whole great galaxy if majority of people play in solo or private? It would be very easy to get rid of gankers.... Majority of the bubble should be high security, and it should mean that any pilot destroying any clear player, should pay the cost of the destroyed ship and its cargo. Pirates, gankers would go off from high sec. In anarchy or outside the bubble there should be no such penalties, or way less. Similiar like eve online works just without the possibility of unpunished ganking in high sec. I think this could really work, and the game would be really nice if the solo players would actually fill it up with life, thats the reason this game was created not?

The second suggestion is quiet simple. Autopilot. It is ridicoulus that we do not have it. I read many players replied to these suggestions with 'the game should not play itself' before. Well it should be optional, so if someone enjoy the endless jumping feel free to do it, but for me the enjoyment of gameplay is the interaction with things like dock out, dock in, land, take off, buy, sell, shoot etc. Jumping from star to star is a boring time when I am thinking I should do something else. But why the developers want that? They should give us the possibility to choose what we want to do. If some of you wants to jump, then jump manually, if some wants to risk of being interdicted give them the possibility..

Third one is emergency call. I imagine a random "event" that can happen anytime in any system. Your computer informs you with audio warning that there is an emergency call nearby. It could even play some random voice recordings from the captain of the troubled ship. Now, the interesting part is this: in high sec systems you must go there and help (its realistic, you have to do it in real life as well), or if you do not do it you will get a big fine and a bigger bounty on your head. When you arrive at the scene there could be some random but non-combat missions, collecting escape pods etc. The reward should be big enough as this mission would be a must to do or you get a fine/bounty.

All of the above- i'm behind 100%

Number 1 is being implemented as part of 3.0 in the form of the ATR. They are uber ships that kill mega bounty players.

Number 2 would be acceptable but only if interdictions can still happen. Leave at your own peril kind of thing.

Number 3 already exists in the form of USS. You get plenty a distress call which can be anything from a ship out of fuel to a ship under attack from pirates. I've even had a capital ship interaction that I guess was a little bit like that trailer but without the cinematics. The only thing missing is the voice part which I think they are looking to change up a bit. Again 3.0 is introducing new voice mechanics to stations.

Yes, and it always ends the same, not all players play in solo because they don't want to get ganked. Some play in solo because they want to play alone. Some people play in solo because they have a poor internet connection and it lags out not just them bit everyone else around. Some people play in solo because for them that is the ultimate elite game. Some people play in solo because the punishment for being destroyed by another player is far, far more than just ship rebuy, coming back from a 100kly expedition means losing 100's of millions of credits, tens of thousands of items of data lost, 6 months or a year playing for nothing.

the game would be really nice if the solo players would actually fill it up with life,

No, they quit because this is not the game they payed for, solo, group and open were part of the game, or the emotional devastation of being destroyed and losing a years travel data is just to much and they can't handle it again, or the loners who don't want to be messaged all the time gets annoyed and go away, or lets try this one, they don't want to be your content.

All these things have been said before many times, solo, group and open are never going to be merged, thats not speculation.

Somehow, my previous comment hours ago didnt worked.. so my reply to this:

1. Yes some ppl may have worse net connection, thats a valid point, but be honest its 2018 the percentage of the number of these players of thw whole playerbase is extremely low..

2. Some people play in solo because for them that is the ultimate elite game: this is . really, if you put a random guy in front of the pc to play ED he could not tell if he plays solo or open (after some game mechanic changes), because he would see ships around himself with human names. he could not tell if they are npc or player

3. Some people play in solo because the punishment for being destroyed by another player is far, far more than just ship rebuy, coming back from a 100kly expedition means losing 100's of millions of credits, tens of thousands of items of data lost, 6 months or a year playing for nothing. sorry if i was not obvious with the mention of cargo. I meant a FULL compensation of ship, cargohold, data etc. everything can be repayed by system after some basic maths by the game. its only programming

4. No, they quit because this is not the game they payed for, solo, group and open were part of the game, or the emotional devastation of being destroyed and losing a years travel data is just to much and they can't handle it again : same as above, players should not loose anything, no big loss, no quit

5. who don't want to be messaged all the time gets annoyed and go away: its a very small time of programming, we need to have an option to turn off recieving messages from other players. lol problem solved....

6. or lets try this one, they don't want to be your content.: this is real .. really a pathetich and butthurt view of things. this man with this view simply do not deserve to do any community goal missions and have any impact of the happenings in the galaxy. this is much more and worse than pure selfishness. i dont even understand how can you use this line as a reason..

overall you misunderstood or didnt want to understand the point: I do not say we should take away the advantages of solo play from the 99% of the players. read slowly if need: I say, it is possible to give the playerbase the advantages of solo play, while they play in open !

This game has just too good basics to let it become a shadow of other games of the future years later. star citizen if EVER be finished could kill this game. dual universe could kill both.. but ED is a great one, just with very basic faulsts or misconception of some core gameplay elements. if the devs would really give the solo players their advantage in open play, 99% the things YOU love in solo, then it would be POINTLESS to have solo for the 99%.. it would be a win-win solution for EVERYONE. that is the point

I fully agree. I also do not understand how the game does not have an autopilot feature yet. I hope that by the end of the year, with "Beyond", this will be finally implemented.

Open Only, been discussed to death, the answer is still no.

Autopilot, no need, if you had played the earlier games you'd realise they needed one, ED doesn't. Also flogging a dead horse

Idea 3, interesting, but they are already in game for the most part, just without the bounty.

Can I have a big gun that kills every ship one by one? Because shooting things is boring as. Be so much better automated so I can just drop my ship and wonder off while it kills stuff and ranks me up.
