Modes Open vs solo

Very true, even in PGs you don't know; just look at those who PvP in the Mobius PG which has a rule saying no PvP.

So PGs have that "unknown" factor just like Open does.

You can 2Ironman" in pen as well, so constraints are not just limited to PGs.
same for anything anyone does in PGs.

Face facts, you can use PGs as you use Open, and Open can be used in the same way PGs are.

They are exactly the same.

Actually joined a player's personal PG last night, and this was the first time I'd done such a thing. Actually had a good time TBH. He was mining some pristine rings, and I was watching his back. He seemed a bit wary at first (I was in my Corvette), but relaxed shortly after I arrived and went back to mining.

I do something similar in solo when I play guard dog for a T9 in a haz res, but this is different in that I actually could have a conversation with someone. Well, typed conversation anyway.

The only thing that could have ruined it would have been OP'd PvP ships showing up to attack us. Don't need or want that crap.

Nope, you are just being disingenuous.
Just having another decision maker involved is a stark difference.

They are not the same by definition.

I love how you try to deflect by saying Jockey isn't being sincere. Is it because it is easier to attack someone's character then the argument? And I find it interesting that you continue to zero in on Jockey yet ignore others who have stated the same, such as..

Open is a PG just like Solo or any of the other PGs

If you are in open you are constrained from engaging with the other PGs and Solo.
If you are in one of the many PGs you are constrained from engaging with those in the Open PG and the Solo PG
and if you are in solo... the same applies

Now if you are in Open or one of the non solo PGs you have access to all the multi-player functions such as wings and muli crew.

It is all one game with a matchmaker, that is all. Everyone affects the game regardless of the PG they are in even if that is the Solo PG.
This ensures that no one is left out its a great design.

The number of people who exploit the modes for their personal gain are no more and no less abundant than the griefers we always hear about.
Everybody should just play the mode they like (even if it changes from session to session) and stop faffing about others and how they want to play

Disingenuous isn't necessarily a character attack, lol...
That is in itself disingenuous to suggest.

Both of you could very well be kind, loving productive people.
I have no idea and I'm not speculating.
That would not change a thing.

That poster is all over the place, and I'm not obligated to correct every single person.

Definition of disingenuous
: lacking in candor; also : giving a false appearance of simple frankness : calculating
— disingenuously adverb
— disingenuousness noun

https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/disingenuous

disingenuous
adjective US /ˌdɪs·ɪnˈdʒen·ju·əs/

slightly dishonest; not speaking the complete truth:

a disingenuous compliment

Would you like to give another excuse? Or is claiming Jockey is "disingenuous" while blatently being disingenuous yourself a good thing?

As the author of the post Mouse linked, I still stand by the idea that anything that can happen in open (mechanics wise) can also happen in any PG.
Mode choice appears to only be a matchmaker function rather than separate modes.
Every single player affects every other player, anything you do in open affects those in solo and pg just as much as every action in pg or solo affects open.
Everything done in any of the modes can be affected by actions in any of the other modes. Simple and balanced.
Just as every open player does not pew pew exclusively not every player in the other modes is trying to undermine or hurt your PNF.

But it is interesting because when I say it apparently I am "tap dancing", when Jockey says it he is apparently is being "disingenuous", and when you say it you apparently are just wrong and ignored.

I am never never wrong, i will have you know. In fact i thought i was wrong once but it turns out i wasnt.......

:)

The tap dancing comment was funny. It seems it was the best retort they had to what was being said. Jockey on the other hand is Jockey and he gets a lot of feldercarb

Nice to know someone else loved the original Battlestar Galactica ^,^

One of the many things I can’t forgive nBGS for is removing any ambiguity from the word frack, to the point where some forums actually sensor the word. As much as I liked the first two seasons of nBSG, I felt they kind of jumped the shark with the “Final Five.”

Back to the original topic, the nature of Open changes quite a bit depending upon when you play relative to your local prime time (LPT), IMO playing outside of LPT is almost as strong a social filter as playing in one of the larger private groups.

This. I am GMT-7, and like to play in the evening. I noticed that activity can get real quiet, regardless of the mode I'm in, almost to the point where nothing is going on. And the network gets al slow... :(
