OpenXR not working since update.

I have reposted this in the VR section as probably more relevant there.

So I have finally got back to the game on a day off after the update and OpenXR will not work.
The game (direct Frontier version of Odyssey) constantly searches for and starts in steamVR.
I have done the usual replacement of openvr_api.dll files, which are now in D:\Program Files (x86)\Frontier\EDLaunch\Products\elite-dangerous-odyssey-64\Openvr\win32 and ............\win64.
I have restarted the computer several times and ensured the latest files are in there, but the game still goes straight into steamVR.
I have disconnected the headset and started the game and an error comes up telling me that the steamVR headset cannot be found (never had this before).

What the heck is going on?
Has anyone else got a clue??

Cheers.

only steam vr is supported as far as i am aware but i would try contacting support https://customersupport.frontier.co.uk/hc/en-us/categories/4404016831378-Elite-Dangerous

Yes steam VR is the primary support for ED, but I have always run it of openXR, as it is a lot more stable with better graphics and frame rates.
It was a minor pain each time we got an update, as I had to copy and paste the openXR version of the opnevr_api.dll file back into the ED folders and it would work again seemlessly.
Also if I removed the headset and run the game flat screen, it would always start up flatscreen from then on, until I went ito graphics and enabled Head unit in the 3D settings.
Now, the program always tries to start steamVR whether the VR headset is attached or not. And it will not run in openXR. The end result now being crap graphics and crashes to desktop.

I did write some of the details in one of the crash reports.
I have also taken your advice and submitted a report to the support team.

Cheers.

It just worked here. I only replaced both (x64/x32-bit) DLLs, and then OpenXR worked without opening the SteamVR app, showing the OpenXR menu inside the game instead.
