Opinion Polls, Ionized Gas, Suit Schematics, and to a lesser extent, Power Regulators - FDev, PLEASE

I swear that the controlling Anarchy Faction there is affecting the loot table in such a way that all the good stuff spawns frequently there, because I've never seen something like this outside of Iah Bulu in the hundreds of other Settlement assaults I've conducted recently on Threat Level 3 Settlements:
Iah Bulu does have that one weird settlement that seems to spawn far more Smear Campaigns than anywhere else, I keep hoping there is another somewhere doing the same for Settlement Defence Plans, but no luck so far :( I think the Sec level on the settlements also affects drops - so H++ are the best - but I need to check what they are in Iah Bulu.

At the moment the best places for Restore Missions (which are not missing https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/no-support-missions-are-not-missing.590553/) are probably Ti Wanjang and Sheela Na Gig, though obviously that may change on the next tick. (And may not be true now, though my script tends to have a good hit rate.)

The large Agri Settlements are the ones that seemingly print the most Manufacturing Instructions for me, among heaps of Production Schedules / Reports, Chemical, Genetic and occasionally Biometric and Spectral Analysis Data. I even found some Mining Analytics at one today.
True, they have their uses (as do Tourist sites, but more for Health Monitors than anything the OP is after). Most of the agri stuff overlaps with EXT/High Tech/IND though, so unless you're doing the genetics unlocks (or after Push in an Anarchy) I don't find them as useful as they tend to stock a lot of the useless stuff. Plus the massive one takes forever to walk across :)

Ionised gas is often provided upfront, inside certain missions, iirc missions under operational subsection in station terminal. You can combine that with hunting for power regulators by abandoning reactivation missions as mentioned upthread.

Just hit a few well populated star ports and you’ll be set.

I haven't even looked at engineering or upgrading gear in Odyssey yet.

I'm just learning the ropes and actually having fun. The minute I look at unlock requirements, upgrades and blueprints my heart will sink with the utter banality of the grind, the hideous material exchange rates etc...

I'm tempted to avoid the whole thing and just rely on finding decent G3 gear and weapons with decent mods...it's worked so far.

Three if these are mission rewards. Just take any mission that offers them. Opinion polls are a nightmare, but not even the worst. I have done a couple hundred hours of EDO missions and have one SDP. Eventually I went to Colonia, unlocked all engineers and got my Headshot mod there. I still haven't seen an additional SDP.

Seriously, I feel for you. The EFO grind is atrocious.

G3 is fine for pretty much everything, and PvP isn't much of a thing with legs anyway. So yeah, definitely don't grind for it. Just get some basic G3 stuff and enjoy. I did kinda enjoy using mission rewards to drive mission selection, might want to make a list of useful mission rewards.

Fwiw: upgrading grades is pretty okay via mission rewards and trading, and you don't need engineers. Grab all the schematics and power regulators the board offers, and the basic mats you'll find everywhere. It's just the mods that are terrible.

Look for a G3 Maverick with Quieter Footsteps. This is the most useful mod for an Odyssey mission runner. (Next would be Night Vision)
Then start from here and slowly upgrade this suit and then work your way through engineers at your own pace.

For weapons, a Silenced G3 Tormentor and an G3 Audio Masked Executioner will get you through every mission type - especially if you're the stealthy type.

Else, anything G3 store bought should make Odyssey content easy enough.

Engineering kinda ruined ED for me when it came out. I started grinding for materials and gave up out of frustration and boredom.

I got past that eventually but I won't be making that mistake again. For the kind of missions I'll be taking on, G3 will be fine.

I don't see any adjustments for Odyssey Engineering happening until the 2023 feature overhaul.
Why it would take almost two years to fix an unlock requirement like SDPs is unfathomable for me. But hey, maybe they will surprise me and adjust that earlier. It's only been 12 months so far.

Well to be fair, they did adjust some of the requirements like how Kit Fowler originally needed 40 opinion polls...

I farmed 3 local anarchy systems (I'm based in Brestla) and I was able to loot pretty much all I needed (other than getting manufacturing instructions from crashed from crashed Nav Beacons).

Yeah, I don't know why they didn't spend another second to look at other mats as well, despite all the feedback. These are such quick changes.

Ikr, if they can't tweak the spawn/drop rate of SDPs in fear of breaking something, just reduce the amount needed to unlock the engineer then. 🤷‍♂️

It depends what you are looking for OP, Suit Mods? Weapon Mods?
I knew there was little chance of me finishing off my Suit/Weapon Mods in the bubble, not with my playstyle! so once I'd checked out what was required using the Engineers in Colonia to get the same Mods, I went over to Colonia for a few weeks & did the Missions over there.
Got what I was after then returned fully kitted out.
But as far as Opinion Polls, SDP's & the like, I've never chased them, just do my favourite Restore/Reactivation Missions wandering around the bubble, they'll come....eventually.

I have a Maverick G2 with Night Vision, I plan to upgrade this to G3...very useful

I can't find a tormentor beyond G1 right now, I am looking but nothing so far. I have a number of G3 weapons, most of which have useful mods.

I've not tried stealthy missions yet, due mainly to not having the right gear and not fully understanding the mechanics of Odyssey yet. TBH I've never been that great at stealth games, they require patience and a deeper understanding of game mechanics. Once I've kitted myself out a bit better and understand the game I will probably give stealth a go.

Cheers

Just asking as a new Odyssey player. I'm collecting everything I can find right now.

Is there a database of items that highlights really valuable loot for upgrading / engineering, stuff that's good to exchange and stuff that's basically worthless?

It would be good to know what to look for rather than collect everything only to find half of it is junk.

I don't do Stealth.......too trigger happy :ROFLMAO:

Got my trusty Plasma Shotgun & Pistol, both kitted out to G5 & modded, with my favourite Maverick Suit again G5 & modded (including Night Vision).

Yeah sometimes I get smacked, but most times blast my way through Settlements, improving as I go;)

Try Inara site.

Also be mindful that stuff, though not everything, can be traded for more useful stuff at the barkeep.
