Option Request - Private/Solo games - ability turn off or limit NPC pirates

Some players--ME..ME .. only play in private or solo games..just want enjoy game and basically be left alone. NPC AI interdiction over and over is completely ruining game for myself. Once in a great while is ok..but almost every single cargo delivery have to deal with them.

In open play? Whatever game and players want to do is fine - but how about allowing those who just want sit on fat butt and deliver some imaginary goods or mine some imaginary ore to enjoy themselves?
Option to turn off completely or limit in some sense AI, I think would go a long way to improve players, like myself, game play experience. Whether 100% off or just off depending on mission/mining/etc

An option like this would affect absolutely NO ones game in OPEN play... who cares if I mine/deliver/explore etc and earn trillions in credits? Affects my experience..NOT yours or others
Now before the pile on begins.. Elite is not the only game I play, it is one I play however to relax. Relax and enjoy -

Devs!!! Please at least consider

Even the idea that thousands of years in the future - with unlimited wealth everywhere... the idea that there is even piracy is silly. Why risk life for next to nothing when you have the universe.

OP this would work in single player game. The problem is every single thing you do affects the background sim. So imagine if you turn off all NPC's. You could trade in a massive T9 with no defence or offence and have a far bigger effect on supply and demand as well as affect the balance of power far more than any other player.

However...... I suppose FD could implement this but at the same time lock your character from having an affect of the BGS. They already do this on occasion to punish some cheaters I believe

A self imposed exhile from all multiplayer parts of the game could work I guess.

Note I am not belittling the OP at all... But ultimately I don't see FD allowing it.

Edit. The ninja's are out tonight ;)

It does affect it though. Background simulation is affected as well as supply/demand.

This won't end well.

My Bingo prediction:
carebears
safe spaces
open only
hotel california
murderhobo
As far as I am aware it doesn't affect Steam Stats, but the Cobra Mk IV availability at Hutton Orbital might be. Is Hotel California still open for business?

Frankly I don't see much difference to the current Solo. You'd just save some time as you wouldn't have to play the interdiction game.

Anyway, I don't think FDev should put resources to stuff like this.

I don't see the difficulty in dealing with interdictions. Dethrottle to submit to interdiction, full throttle and boost, boost, boost, continue boosting until around 5 km away from assailant, engage supercruise, continue voyage.

if that doesn't work I'm sure you could always combat log I doubt the NPCs are going to report you. Kind of joking as this is highly frowned upon. however I suspect more people do this than are willing to admit to it.

You are asking for an Elite: Carebare mode :D

I have some sympathy: I was loaded up with missions for the recent grind-a-federal-Corvette fest and was being interdicted so often, sometimes they were double interdictions with two NPCs at the same time! (I don't see how that is possible, but they took me clean through a planet lol.) In the end, you get so annoyed by them, you just turn around and blow them up ..... which I think is the idea ;) You need to git gud with a tough ship for that though.

I was fully expecting this response..... And whilst I do see your point I don't agree.
I will defend solo and PG till the end of time (or at least until I stop playing ED ;) )

The difference is all 3 modes play by the same rules set it's just we get to optionally set the matchmaking. Sure Open is in some instances harder than solo (and in others easier), with PG having the best of all..... But as I said all play by the same rules. If people choose to risk meeting other players that is their choice and this may make the game harder. What OP I asking for however is changing fundamentally the rules of the game.. FD have never done that before.

I'm not at all arguing for removal of Solo/PG. It's just that losing an interdiction to an NPC never happens (don't mind that either). Pretty sure that the only thing preventing me from flying a shieldless T9 when in Solo is brushes with the mail slot.

A completely terrible idea. The minimal opposition the Environment can muster can't be just turned off, they must be endured. That's why we play the game. Rather than asking for an obstruction to be removed, ask around for help in overcoming those obsticals.

OP: Winning interdictions is a skill learned ... and it is dependent on your equipment. They say it's easier with a mouse (never tried it), but you need to have a joystick at least. Flying by keyboard isn't fun after a while.

Not everyone is good at predicting where the blue circle of interdiction will go next, and if you can't anticipate it, you can easily lose. It's what you do next that is crucial .... and if you can't win interdictions submit then put as much distance between you and your pursuer by boosting. Chaff or heat sink can disrupt the incoming fire long enough to boost away in a jump. It takes practice, but it does require a learning process, and the interdictions will become (slightly) less irksome when you know you can get away by submitting first.

Removing npc's pirates would make game easier, not harder, even for my trading t-9 pirate anacondas are nice source of g4-5 materials, so i don't have to take assasiantion missions to farm them. I don't see much difficulty with npc's, they are just extra annoyance given their difficulty level, and opt in content given how easy interdiction minigame is, this would have 0 effect on BGS, only problem is that elite lack single player mode and detailed difficulty settings like all good single player games have.
