Option to make commander left-handed

So this is kind of a cross-post from this topic: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/setting-to-make-your-commander-left-handed.634740/

First of all, I'm not a newcomer, but this definitely feels like a newcomer question, so here it goes... I could be missing something very obvious but is there a setting somewhere to make your commander left-handed? As a leftie, it feels very unnatural to shoot guns with the right hand. For example, on multiple occasions I hid behind the wrong corner of a wall because I assumed the gun was in my left hand (stupid, I know, maybe I should just get good, but still it would be nice to have the option).

From the replies I get that such an option is not there yet. Maybe there are no left-handed people left in 3311. But otherwise, I would really like to have this option. Do other lefties agree?

Lefties were eradicated 2530's. That's when mandatory gene modifications were made to eliminate anybody overweight, underweight, short, or extra tall. Also got rid of children in the process. Humans are now created full size in labs. The unfortunate side effect was an unusually high percentage of very ugly people by historical standards.

Correct, that's not something you can change.

We have been around since time immemorial and we will be around as long as there is still a glimmer of life left in humanity.

Yes.

As a leftie, I don't care. I am apparently amongst the minority of lefties that does well in a right handed world, and I don't have issues with game characters not being the same in every aspect as I, the player ;). But then again I use my mouse with the right hand, have my flight controls set up right handed, play guitar right handed and generally don't struggle with right handed tools :).

As lefties we have to adapt, I agree. It seems most lefties are "two-handed" to some extent. I play guitar right handed too, just like Mark Knopfler and Paul Simon to name a few. :)

But on other stuff I prefer my left hand, like handling the mouse, and writing obviously.

And somehow I can't get used to shooting people in the face with a right-handed gun. Could also be the shooting people in the face part, I don't know.

Duane Allman, Joe Perry, Gary Moore, Steve Morse... good company :D.

Handedness is a spectrum anyway, and possibly also a mindset. I know lefties that have giant problems doing just anything, and some that just plainly refuse to even try unless there is a special left handed version.

As for the shooting thing, when playing Alyx I learned that I am left handed but right eye dominant, so I shot my handgun with the right hand (I never held one in real life). Might have something to do with it.

Im still looking for that left handed screwdriver i got sent to find in my first job back in the early 80s :ROFLMAO:

It is lying here, next to my left handed pencil and ruler. In all seriousness though, the only tool I really struggle with is calipers for some reason.

Probably hidden behind the tins of clear striped paint on the shelf above the ox-ometer.

Eye dominance can be an issue for shooting well depending just how dominant one eye is, and doesn’t tie up with handedness.
Pistols can be fired with either hand unless the grip is a target style one.
Rifles etc are more problematic depending on the cartridge ejection mechanism.

Can't speak for real life, but I had issues with pistol aiming in Alyx when shooting left handed, which was my first reflex to do. The internet told me (TM) I should check my eye dominance and switch hands if I was right eye dominant. Did it, worked.

That's about all my life's gun experience :D.

Shooting a weapon in the hand opposite your dominant eye but using that eye can be done but leads to some very strange head positions/stances with a pistol with rifles you see people with the sights mounted on a bar offset to the side of the weapon.
I used to target shoot in earlier years.
