Optional internal slots making them bigger and smaller.

hi there guys, i have an idea i have thaught about for a while. you know the biger ships like the Anaconda, Corvette, Cutter, Python and so on dont have any tier 1 Optional Internal slot.

let's take the Cuter as an example. the Cutter does not have any 1 point Optional Internal slot (exept the planetary landing but that one dosn't count) and it is almost stupid/unnececary to put a Discovery Scanner on that slot since a 3 point slot can do so much more but you got no choise (for example).

so my idea is that you can take a tier 3 Optional internal slot and plit that 3 point to Two tier 2 Optional internal slot. that way you can get more internal slots without cheating the game really. since a tier 2 OI is half the size of a tier 3 OI. This shall also be able to work in reverse i my thoughts, if i for example have two tier 4 OI, i should be able to mash them together to make a single tier 5 OI. You can only mash together two slots of similar size. and this shall work between Tier 1 and 8 OI. this way you can make stronger ships without using the slot machine we call engineering, or so. but is ofc still limited by your PowerPlant and such. but this whould work great for traders, explorers and such.

what do you think?

Ships do occasionally get buffed & nerfed by FDev, but allowing players to split module slots appears to be off the table. It's a design choice.

The concept of a combined ADS/DSS is a popular one, as are various other combinations of modules.
It's a reasonable suggestion, and one that has come up many times before.

Heh, I started exploration. I figured that I could not possibly be the first one to want to combine those 2 things.
