Orca should be a medium ship, t7 too

Honestly I am okay with them being large, but its the fact the Python does their jobs BETTER THAN THEM despite both of them being dedicated ships thats ridiculous. Python can carry MORE than the T-7 while still being able to have a shield and has the benefit of a medium landing pad. The Python can also carry MORE PEOPLE than the Orca and can still use a Medium landing pad.

The fix would be easy and you don't even need to adjust the Python.

Give the T-7 a Class 7 slot that can ONLY be used for Cargo

Give the Orca another 6 slot that is restricted to cabin use.

Boom problem solved. The Orca becomes a better Passenger ship than the Python and the T-7 becomes a better cargo ship than the Python while still allowng players the option of the Python as a multi-role ship.

A less-long, less-tall Orca?

Fixed it for ya (25% less-long):

It would probably look better actually. Right now it's just a long tube.

He he, yes good post.

I suspect the passenger ships hold something else as well as seats, such as dining facility. We know the Beluga has a gym because it is always breaking down. They hint to me that we will see legs one day and will be able to walk around our ships and see these facilities.

The flight models still don’t make sense for python. Python is like a humvee that can hold more cargo than a semi and more passengers than a bus. This extra dimensional storage is amazing!

The T7 is actually 6m shorter than the Python... so is the reason that the T7 requires a large pad a height thing?

The clipper too, and the clipper should have a larger MLF than the orca. It's crazy that a more massive military ship has a lower MLF than a passenger liner.

Yup.

In order for some ships to become medium ships they would need to be shrunk.

If they are shrunk, then the question would be, should FD reduce their internals or mass as well?

So what happened to the Lakon Type-8? You'd expect there to be something between 17.5 and 76.5 million? That'd give them plenty of room to make the Type 7 slightly smaller in capacity, while making the Type 8 have a clear advantage over the python.

I kinda wonder if the keelback was actually supposed to be the type 7 and the type 7 we got should’ve been the type 8.

T7 is less than a meter too tall for Medium landing pads, and the Orca, whilst longer than any current medium capable ship, is shorter than the medium landing pad, with a larger clearance than the Beluga has on the large landing pad.
Additionally, T6 is also only a fraction too tall for a small landing pad.

I'd love the next update to include a very modest reduction in T6 and T7 height, so that they can be landed on a landing pad one size smaller, respectively, and the Orca allowed to land on Medium pads also. That would put the Lakon line of "T" freight ships, and the SK passenger line ships each on a different landing pad size.

I'd also love to see the Imperials get a medium ship, but I don't see the devs modifying the Clipper that extensively. Perhaps it's time for a new Imperial ship?

The Orca irritates me most, from an in-universe perspective.

The Orca and the Beluga are both made by Saud Kruger.

Why would any company produce a product who's only competition is another product manufactured by the same company?
And then, even worse, why would you make one product which targets the same market sector as another product but doesn't do it as well?

It's a bit like Ford selling the Passat as well as the Mondeo but then giving the Passat a cheap interior and a tiny engine and then wondering why it doesn't sell very well, even if it's cheaper.

I realise that the Orca is actually a very nice ship in it's own right but it makes no sense that Saud Kruger would release 2 ships competing for the same market rather than making the Orca a medium-pad ship.

Which is weird in itself, as pads don't have any problem with height...

EDIT: Though of course, the hangars probably do have a height limitation. I don't like the hangars anyway, can they be fixed? :D Or just let them land on smaller pads, but not enter the hangar?

It's crazy that ships smaller than a Python need a large pad to dock. Open up the mid-game by allowing these ships to shine.

The amount of times I have had a large pad blocked because some NPC Orca is sitting there doing nothing. Yes please, downgrade the Orca to a medium pad, it looks ridiculous on a large pad anyway.
