Yes, should run nicely. VR for ED is game-changing, really very good. Hope you enjoy it.

Re the specs, if you find it uncomfortable wearing them inside the rift, have a look at these. I got a set and it was much better than wearing my glasses.

If you've never played Elite in VR you'll be floored. Don't fall over the edge when you come through the mail slot. Tell us how much time you spent in an iEagle flying around the station.

Check out the virtual reality sub-forum for VR discussion and info.

You may find glasses a hassle for Oculus. Some solutions are discussed in the above sub-forum. Personally I found contact lenses to be the easiest and most effective solution, but not everyone can wear contact lenses and have bought prescription lenses that are add on designed to fit inside the HMD.

OP - essentially a dreary experience, nothing to see that that glorious 2D can’t give you.

VR is epic!!!

WRT your specs - you may not even need to wear them if your vision is not too goofy. I need reading glasses and get on fine without them. Oculus does not have a lot of space infront of lenses, avoid prescription lens inserts as they don’t fit.

TIP: turn down the HUD brightness.

And u can adjust the headset fit at the sides!

As everyone says, you're in for a treat; canyon runs are great fun especially.

I wear prescription glasses and bought inserts for the Oculus for around €100 and they work a treat and can be left in. I ordered from here.

I wear glasses all the time....except when using the rift! If your eyesight isn’t too bad perhaps you may find the same?
But you will be blown away by it! I have downloaded dozens of other games....only ever play elite! CQC is a revelation!

cool... as others have said, you're in for a treat.

Please post back your experience (good or otherwise) - always keen to hear what others think, and it helps me validate my own purchase (shows wife another thread of someone raving about VR... see, it's not just me!)

Apparently not all Cmdr’s that use the Oculus need to wear their glasses. I’m sure there is info in the forum, or someone may chime in here. But in any case, there are special glasses one can purchase which fit perfectly in the rift. Again I have seen this info here in the forums Virtual Reality section.

True I'm afraid. The focal point in the rift is mid distance. Great for me as I'm farsighted so I don't need my glasses in VR. Not so good for you though

If you’re nearsighted then you will need glasses for VR.

Maybe I mix it up(not an English native speaker) but I am near sighted?! meaning I can see well at close sight but I cant make out faces at a distance...

So I need glasses for driving cause I cant read signs too well!

However In Elite I don't need glasses! I see everything perfect, I can read everything and it all looks smooth!

Sideeffect: I have NO screendoor effect whatsoever! so my eyes are perfect in VR while a bit limited outside
