our ships finally feel high-tech !

There's been an awakening... Have you felt it ?

Not so long ago, in our galaxy, the 2nd most advanced tool of our time for general discovery and navigation was, after the scanner... A headlight. A very powerful headlight.
Yeah.

This is what the tech of our ships felt like, if we forget the ability to compress space and time :

Now, the feeling lies in the little details : night vision mode, spectrum analysis, mining scanners... It's finally starting to feel like 3304, and our ships are high-tech tools for the job.

So keep up in that direction FD. More "sim" elements are always welcome AFAIK.

We fly ships with a joystick. We have to fly ships at all.

Not too advanced then.

Natural born humans fly space ships... not so advanced then.

Where are those bio-engineerd Elite cloned humans with upgraded genetics?

Such as the Kaminoan cloning facility.

We are slowly progressing towards autonomous cars, true. But not having fully AI ships can easily be the result of several things:
AI rebellion (if contained it could have been swept under the rug) that made us rethink
Crappy gameplay if we didn't fly ourselves

I don't really like this AI aspect of Banks' Culture series.

we can go ultra high tech, i think its called YouTube where the ship is truly autonomous. ;)

The only thing more thrilling than flying 400kls to a planet is watching someone else do it.

....and an espresso machine!

don't forget the espresso machine that looks to be almost unchanged for 1000 years. complete with cups hanging on the sides....in a ship with no artificial gravity.

Night vision is eyeball mk2 avialible for everyone. Sensor class should limit them.

IMHO Class E sensor should limit it to 500m?, and with each class + 500? (Just enough for maneuvering)

Go whine in your own specific thread for this..... This thread is much more fun without whine.

I swear there was something in the Elite lore about some kind of rouge AI incident, other than the Guardian ones of course.
Night vision mode makes silent running builds useless in pvp. It is so easy to find green object in space...
Yeah, it's night vision that makes silent running useless!

Now excuse me while my fire-at-will (poor guy), scramble spectrum and emmisive long range pulse turrets shoot at that guy who burns to death and auto resolves whenever he pulls the trigger...

My CMDR can handle in excess of +40g before blacking out and -20g before redout. He can also sit upright, comfortably, for indefinite periods of time at +9g immediately after prolonged exposure to microgravity.

I'd wager our characters have many generations of genetic upgrades as well as significant technological and pharmaceutical augmentation.

Yet still no auto-pilot !!! 😁
