Makes no difference if you play in Solo, like learn the game.
Get Elite on something and you have access.
It's not really a big deal unless your sole desire is to rank up as fast as you can, then you realize that there are better players and you are the noob. Oh boy, that must hurt after all that grinding. Tears to be sent to Support because you never learnt how to play the game properly...
Do the work and learn, get the reward, simple.
If you don't learn how to play the game then you will always suck, regardless of ship.

This is an old thread regarding an actual specific race to elite status with a cash payout from FD when Elite went live with the full release version last December. It's an old thread that keeps getting bumped for various reasons (partly my fault as well), so nothing to worry about as such.
