Ship Builds & Load Outs Outfitting Python

I just bought a Python...super excited to get it up and running. With that this as me asking the question....”what’s the best outfit for combat for the python?”

Seems like so many choices on this thing I’m just not sure.
Keep in mind I only do PvE.

Try this... Open Slots mean fill with your preference. Add engineering as you can. Reactive armor is worht it. https://beta.coriolis.edcd.io/outfi...hBmcQUwIYHMA28QgIwVyKBQA==&bn=Python your way

You don't have to A rate the Power Plant, just make sure that it more than enough power to cover you system when you finalize the build. Fill the optionals with SCBs, MRPs and HRPs for combat. Congrats on the Python, it's a good ship and very versatile.

That makes sense to put MRP & HRP...as I was looking I saw a Guardian HRP and so forth I can get....where do I get that, is it better? Yes these are the questions I have...I’ve kinda stop playing for awhile and just started up again with 3.3. Even before that I was on and off.

This works for me, it needs fully engineering of course.

I use mine in a different build as a multi purpose armoured, cargo and mission runner hoverver.

Have fun.

That’s interesting. “Shock Canon” eh? That’s new to me. Why not just go all Multi?

It's a rapid fire weapon, unlocked from the human trader, when I say rapid fire you have to gun the trigger rapidly, you can use it on the same fire group as the MCs, and use it separately because of this, it's lethal close up... damage is in the 140's range as opposed to my engineered corrosive and incendiary MCs which are 35/38 DPS respectively!

Note the Power Plant is dropped a size in my build, you only need a class 6.

This is what I am currently using on my Python. It's role is as an 'armed trader,' I just use it as the space equivilent of an Armored Car. It's a simple build, but does quite well.. if you wanted to just bounty hunt you could swap the Cargo Bays for Hull and Module Re-enforcement packages.

If you're going to be fighting in a Resource Extraction site, I also recommend going with Bi-Weave shields instead. This ship as a trade ship isn't quickly going from fight to fight so I use regular shields on it. Bi-Weaves are preferable for bounty hunting.

Though to be honest, the Python really excels in a 'multi role' situation. If you just want a pure combat ship, I recommend the Krait Mark II. It has all the same core internals so anything you have done with your Python can transfer over. It's a more nimble ship and while it's not quite as tough, it has the same fire power and it can launch a fighter.

Don't get me wrong, the Python is a tough ship.. it can certainly fight.. but if you end up like me and find that you don't enjoy combat in the Python as much as you thought you would, give the Krait a try.

Waste of money to use that ship as a pure combat ship. It's not a great combat ship since it's multirole. There are cheaper, more nimble, more fun flying better combat options. It's strongest job in my opinion is piracy, as it's able to shield tank mining NPC's while storing large enough collector and hatch breaker limpets to collect all the cargo, while carrying a 3A FSD, 128t of cargo and a small fuel scoop to go sell at the highest selling black market.

Agree completely. You can get better guns and better agility in one of the other newer classes and older. Im here looking at Python discussions because I want to do one for Transport/Passenger missions. Lots of first class cabin space in one of these and the ability to take a lickin and keep on tickin. Anyway, I think a Krait Mk2 would be closer to your desire.

"Fun to fly" is relative. The Python is an excellent combat ship when used to its strengths. Still one of my favorites, although it got some serious competition by the Krait Mk 2.

I agree with all the posters on here. I also confess to being a major Python fan. Yes, it almost certainly is the best mission-running, multipurpose ship in the game but I also think it deserves to be taken out into the big, bad world of PvP. Do we seriously want just FDLs with Plasmas and prismatic shields that are no good at anything else with a jump range of 2 LY? They can be balletic in experienced, FAoff hands but is that really all there is ? No. Apart from the Chieftain being a cheap and agile competitor I like the hard-as-nails Python. So long as you can avoid a turning fight where the wedge shape and slower turning is a problem, the toughness and decent hardpoint placement can be your friend. Stick prismatics, shield boosters and MRP/HRPs throughout and it takes some stopping.
