Overlooked, lazy or don't care?

Not sure which one It is, Overlooked, lazy or don't care, I'm hoping that it's just overlooked. So as anyone who's done some trading will know, you can buy and sell three commodities which are related to Odyssey but seem to have been completely missed by the game designers. By which I mean Battle weapons, Personal weapons and Non lethal weapons.

You can buy battle weapons and personal weapons but are restricted to where you can sell them due to them being illegal at some locations, but you can go to the Pioneer store and buy weapons at the same station that there listed illegal at. Also if battle weapons are available in the game why don't we have access to these to use in conflict zones? assuming that pioneer store is selling personal weapons.

Then there's the non lethal weapons this one for me is the biggest issue, why were these not ported into Odyssey as a method for completing missions without picking up bounties for killing everyone. I for one would love to be able to buy non lethal guns to use for certain missions. It seems that Frontier have forgotten what's in there own game and as such were all missing out on gameplay options we could have had from release.

Like I said I hope this was just overlooked but come on FDevs get non lethal guns added to Odyssey.

Didn't fit with the odyssey upgrade loops, so, was ignored. (weapons needed to cost more - but you can buy tones of them for near zero credits so... )

However, they could just say that the concourse is reserved for a "Certain kind of people" and that the general weapons of varying kinds are... for plebs?

I dunno doesn't really make sense as we engage in conflict zones which appear to be military operations so... eh?

I’d rationalise it as when you’re purchasing tons (tonnes?) or ‘units’ of commodities like personal and battle weapons, you’re essentially setting yourself up as a wholesaler. When you buy a gun or couple of guns for your virtual spaceman you’re just buying them for personal use. I mean, IRL the US with famously liberal gun laws most folks can purchase a personal weapon, with sensible restrictions, I’d assume relatively easily, whereas if you place an order for a literal ton of small arms it’s going to raise some red flags!

But it could have tied to the BGS and make an actual impact. Have a democracy fall and arms sellers pop up.

I mean, you can buy a gun in the UK, if you have a license, but it’s illegal to import a tonne of firearms.
Its one of many strange things never explained. Another its the interdictor- from memory the little lore snippet stated they were strictly regulated and often illegal in places, yet, they are sold openly. Why? Does the Pilots Fed allow us to do what we like?

The funny thing is, they could have solved all this really easily, by making the guns and suits cost prices that made sense - and then, making it so you have to then buy some upgrades to put them on par with current "G1" which cost the amounts it makes it cost right now.

Yes, it's an extra step - but they could have made these upgrade incremental as well, and have no engineering involved, mimicing the current ship upgrades with modules, and then engineering on top.

This would have created more progression (for new players with less cash to hand) made the items more interesting ,and kept the internal consistency.

It would have been more work though... I guess.

Yes, it does...

We get massacre missions, bounty hunting, or can just drop into an anarchy system and kill every passenger ship or trader who passes by, just for some of the bits of their ship than an engineer might use...
But does it? Just as how Powerplay leaders fit into the lore, the game itself does a poor job of telling us how we fit into the world.
