What do you think?

I think you're in the wrong game's forums, you want: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC

I think your prices are way over the top.

Indeed.

If we assume that a whole season did cost ... what ... was it 45.- €?
And if we would not get a single large expansion in the future but four separate smaller DLCs (like the point updates we had so far), I wouldn't expect more than 15.-€ per DLC. And this would be already more expensive than what we payed in the past. But I guess this would be the price for the certainty and fractured content. It's always more expensive.

However, I personally believe in only one or at max two DLCs per year and I believe the same 45.-€ for a big one or 20.- to 25.-€ for a two smaller ones might be the targeted price range.

The first one will be gas giants and atmospheric planets (without prospering biospheres; primitive and sparse life might be featured). This will include new SRVs and new game mechanics.
The second one will probably open up currently locked space areas and introduce alien civilizations to interact with.
Whether they will use one or two DLCs, the content added together will be equal to what we got during a season so far.

What I could imagine though might be smaller content DLCs that add additional stuff to already (or newly) introduced features. Additional space dragons or new gas giant whales, for example.
This stuff will be relatively overpriced (when compared to the "full" expansion DLCs) and cost 5.- to 10.- € each.

Frak engineers! Go for Guardians tech. Less grinding to unlock and you do it only one time! After that you can just buy modules with basically G4 engineering done in half (kinda G3.5).

Not mine. Original post author from ED group on FB. But yeah. Some are.

You do that! I'll use my G5 stuff and vapourise you. :D

Hello fellow Commanders!
In one of the Facebook ED groups someone joked about premium DLC for Elite. What do you think about that idea? Would it be something you could pay for? Should it be optional without any in game advantage? Let me know what you think.

Below kinda funny list of possible expansions.
How about this list of premium DLC?

- Earth type atmospheric planets 30$
- Water type atmospheric planets 30$

I think cost / content in this list (i know its a joke list) is a joke.

Nope nope nope nope

And stop using Facebook it's evil.
Zuckerberg cares more about his Hawaii estate than Holocaust deniers and Russian trolls throwing elections. I hope you didn't do the IQ Test from Cambridge Analytica :/

Isn’t that exactly the model they are following? Call it DLC, expansions, seasons, whatever. Horizons “DLC” certainly gives an advantage. I expect the future paid content to as well just as I expect the next WoW expansion to provide an advantage.

Expansions evolve the game. It's not buying a advantage. Not getting a expansion is like not seeing or reading a sequel which is something one does if the original didn't interest you. Refusing to get a expansion because one feels you already paid for the game and should get add ons for free is akin to expecting to see/read sequels for free because you paid for the first movie/book.
Some people have strange ideas about what video games are and their rights as consumers.

Reminds me of the Star Citizen thread and pricing policies.. ;) I think for the vast majority of gamers, 30-50$ is more or less what they'd pay for a game, less for an expansion..

Personally, if these prices became a thing in this game I'd just uninstall and move to other games

Needs more zero's to be a contended for the SC throne.

I nearly mean the time effort you need to put in to unlocking engineers, collecting all materials and engineering to G5. Then you need to do it with every module on your every ship.
I've unlocked all Guardian Tech in one weekend and I have it forever. Just need go to Outfitting and buy it with G3.5 Included. Got my drift? :p

Will you absolute eejits stop looking for more things to pay for and start demanding they fulfil what you've already paid for?

Are you their customers or their bloody shareholders fishing to see what order of moneygrubbing they can get away with next?

ED's been great value for money for me YMMV of course.

And my G5 stuff is better. Got my drift? Besides... Guardian technology only makes your ship slower and heavier. You want those sweet sweets engines? Well, you know... ;)

I persoanlly would not mind paying for further content if it expanded the game play and my interactions with the created galaxy. Over 1100 hours of playtime for what I paid is far beyond what I expected in the value for money area.
How those prices would break down and for what content are another matter. As it stands I am already buying additional items from the store and I'd just soon pay for something deeper and more substantive than cosmetic goods, but for now that's all there is.

A little different in Elite. We live in the same galaxy in the same places. You are directly competing against players with the next xpac (vanilla vs horizons). When we buy horizons we are absolutely buying an advantage.

Same here. I love this game and still enjoy it after 1700+ hours. Also I'm supporting FD by buying things from the store (800+ euros currently). I would not mind to buy all those DLC with those prices. And YES! Aisling romance storyline too!

What I was trying to say (perhaps poorly) is that by not buying a expansion one is opting out of the full experience. It might be for lack of interest or as a protest against the business model. If one only plays solo the base game might be all one needs or wants, but when one plays in open, competitively pvp'ing, it would be silly to expect a evolving game to remain equal unless one gets aboard the progress.
My objection to the op's pasted shopping list is the chopping up of features such as different planetary landings. The prices were insane in that jokey list. I will buy the paid dlc when it drops and if it's atmospheric landings I absolutely expect all planet types to be included and not in separate packages.
I do not see expansions as buying advantage, I see not buying expansions as not really being that into the game.
