Park size?

If your able to fill the entire sandbox at the size it is right now then you have a monster computer.. [woah]

I am no where near finished and my game is lagging pretty badly. Not to say I have a monster PC, in fact my video card is a bit long in the tooth and will be upgraded when the AMD RX480 lands on the 29th. [yesnod]

I'm worried that even with the current size, guests struggle to make their way to the back parts of the park. This was a problem with RCT3 and they added in Stamp Stations to get peeps to travel further back to where you want them to go so they can collect stamps. Kind of an odd solution but it worked ok.

I'm now having the same problem with this park,

There are about 4 other rides in the back near the red coaster(mix of family/thrill) and only maybe a dozen peeps make their way back there at a given time and 99% of them are just wondering, not directly going to any ride.
Most guests hang around the front of the park riding the same rides over and over again, back and forth. They always have a route to go to when they're up front but in the back it's just always "wondering" even though there are a lot of rides around them. ODD!

This will probably improve when they add in park maps and transportation(YAY actual working transport! *heavybreathing) but I'm hoping it won't be a problem like it was in previous RCT games with ghost towns in the back parts and right now that's what's happening again. I want to see guests (at least with a map) want to go to any ride anywhere in the park rather than what's near them.

That's a pretty park Cereal.

i don't wanna be 'that guy' but seeing lots of the new pictures of new parks etc, the map size or option to choose a bigger size needs to be in the final game. It's not about filling up a huge park (that would kill even my decent gaming pc) it's about having more space between park sections & with the inclusion of transport in the final game it would be much more realistic if it were bigger. The option needs to be in the game at least for the people that want a bigger area to use. I imagine that's many people. Again, it's not about filling it up it's about having more space & distance between areas of the park etc. It's all so condensed atm

Zooming out to full aerial view of the current sandbox, could the absence of trees and a distinct straight line on the outskirts of the current boundary hint as to the potential total map size?

The white box is the current park border. The yellow is a subtle second boundary sans trees. I think I could live with this if it were the maximum.

I think the yellow line will indeed be the maximum size. You can clearly see a seam of where the moldable terrain meets the backdrop terrain. I hope they kept it condensed and 1 size only just for alpha testing purposes. Like others said, it just feels a little too condensed right now. it's impossible to create a disney park right now with proper spacing. (and plazas [mouth shut])

Yea, i really hope that's the case. Even if it's an option so the people that want a bigger map can choose to & the people that don't can choose not to if they wish

didnt they mention at 1 time in a QA the park size was going to increase x4?

I've seen that said a few times but never seen any proof so i don't know unfortunately.

I would like it to be a option to enable but it tell you that you may get lower frame rate when you start a new park

Exactly, even if it has an effect on performance, the option should be there. People are gonna be playing this game for years to come & even if a bigger park doesn't run great on some peoples rigs now, over time with upgrading it would be really nice to have that option. I don't want the game to feel as limited for space as it does right now.

That would be great, and seems the more probable to me.

I hope this yellow thing will be the maximum size. I also hope we get to edit the entrance a bit

Possibly the larger map size is slated to be bought in the career style game.

Yea that would make sense as long as it could be used in sandbox too, which i imagine it would be

I know it was just a concept/cg trailer, but the one they showed off in that looked really great & i'd much prefer to see that instead

I would like to see a bigger map too. Especially when multiple custom built buildings and mutliple coasters take up a lot of space.

I have a pretty good high end custom desktop. In Alpha 2, my 6th gen skylake intel core i7 6700k multi core processor and AMD R9 390 which boasts a 384GB/s bandwidth 512 bit bus and 8GB GDDR5 memory could play my 10,000 people park in 1920x1080 High settings at 12-21 fps. With my amazing hardware [squeeeeee] I can play the Alpha 3 on 1920x1080 everything maxed out settings at 30-48fps even with 4,000 people.

Good stuff!

Ive got the i7 6700k, OC'd to 4.6ghz, but ive got you beat with a Fury X as my GPU (upgraded from the 390) :p

However i'm pulling only 40fps with 2 coasters and only 800 peeps right now. Although i cracked open Crimson center and noticed my GPU had the 'power efficiency' setting on, that may have been the problem.

No need for bigger map, you can build your park lower in the ground and higher in the area. I think most just build it on on one level. Now with the new lighting. Why not build a cave system with rides and scenery.

there is definately need for bigger maps.

You can always choose to build smaller in a big map but not choose to build bigger in a small map.

What you say with work on multiple levels doesnt make any sense and looks unrealistic.
