Passenger Mission Preperations(?)

Landed in a high tech station last night (the one with palm trees) and near the landing pad was what looked like a shuttle bus you see at airports. I landed back there later in the evening, different pad, and the bus was there as well.

Preparing for passenger missions? Oh, but I didn't see Reg Varney.

One of those clunky buses? or a descent one that doesn't have wheels from Canada? :D

The buses have been at landing pads for ages, along with the crates and all the other stuff etc. So no cause to get excited I'm afraid.

If you spot a tour rep standing outside one in a space suit with a clipboard and a drunken coach driver ineptly loading cases, then I'll start getting excited for passenger missions.

Do you have a picture? Somehow, I have never noticed that.

Didn't FD say that we would get passenger missions way back in 1.3? I have always seen them mention it and nothing happens, would be great to give ships like the Orca a purpose, other than pirating of course.

There better be some Hawkin's Cheezies and poutine on board, if you're going to transporting me anywhere! And a towel.

One day in the future those cars will be use but I very much doubt they will use for the first version of passenger missions, I suspect we will have to wait until season 3 or 4 for that.

Passenger missions have been 100% confirmed for 2.2.

I hope we get to accidentally them. It'd feel recursively cool to sell them as fertilizer from a wireframe Cobra. >___>

Yup, I guess that it more than just slamming a passenger module in the ship and of we go. I hope and pray that they will add more to it than just that.
There will be different classes of modules, of course.

- First Class
- Second Class
- Scum Class

I don't see how passenger transpo is going to be any different than cargo hauling with some text editing. Go to station A, pick up passangers/cargo fly to station/port/colony B, complete mission. I guess I should be happy that the Orca will actually be used as a player ship rather than as a goof. Anyone else use to interdict "Wedding Barges" and kill them for laughs?

Like I said. Were it that simplistic, they'd have already done it. I suspect they have a lot more in mind-like how it fits into the new mission structure (especially branching missions). I am looking forward to seeing how it all pans out.

Hmm, I really hope there will be different types of passengers that you can fulfil extra tasks for to get a bonus payment for example:
Tourist passenger (see X space object from under 50Ls)
Military passenger (Destroy/disable X ships)
Lawless passenger (pirate cargo)
Trojan horse passenger (Your ship takes corrosion style damage)
Gambler (Casino module installed for massive profits)
Racer (Get to destination in under x minutes)
Sophisticated (Wants high quality and smooth journey)
Representative (Fed/Emp/Alliance rep)

And probably another 10+ to cover everything.

If there was some way to discover their secret or random it'd be awesome as you'd have no way of knowing so you can either haul for the base profit or fit yourself specifically for 1 type. Or go true multi-role with a bit of everything. (2x 6A left free for passenger modules)

Pick 10 passengers up. There's 4 military ones, 1 lawless, 1 gambler and 4 tourists. Do you cater for the gambler and upset the rest with a boring cruise or do you see the sights for the tourists in the hopes the gambler will be appeased and give you a bonus too? Or do you go all out combat blasting ships away and hoping some spill cargo for that lawless passenger as well as the military. Who will pay more?

^This is my dream anyway :p

Once they announced horizons in august 2015, some people replied: That's impossible to get ship landing on planet, Elite must be rewritten from the ground. It's a interation game, so FD has already build the roots to implement it. and by the way it's an headline feature as 2.1 so relax it will be cool as hell :) no doubt about that.

Time will tell, in my opinion FD has been hit or miss with some of their implemented updates, CQC being one of the larger sins.
