Patch 7 stutters and 0 FPS

I was running fine in patch 6 (and most prior releases to be honest) but with patch 7, suddenly it's stuttering left/right/centre and dropping from 60 FPS flying above a planetary port (not settlement) to 20 FPS with frequent pauses. Then get into the port and go see an Engineer (for example, at Sanctuary) and it's 20FPS and dropping, right until it hits 1 FPS.

Seems to recover shortly after, only to take off and have the same happen again.
Then get into port and dock and attempt to disembark and it drops to 0 FPS with a never-ending "docking" sound effect.

Anyone else having horrendous issues with framerates in patch 7? Not poor framerates before - explictly terrible rates in 7 only that were fine in 6. Is it just me??

I have profiled it with VerySleepy and put some cache grind dumps (which you can view in QCacheGrind, for example) I have sent these and other files to Sally for her to share with the devs:

VerySleepy: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_MEGkne5Bm1_eiJCeCGgKrRaFEwr54FN/view?usp=sharing

Another set, where the EXE died shortly afterwards:

VerySleepy: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lA-A0MzGQzxolbhUlpq5MKkKq7Qs025m/view?usp=sharing

Anyone spot anything obvious??
I used Reshade to enable CAS in patch 6 (that is all, no other effects) and am still using it in patch 7 (with FSR and CAS disabled in the game).

I’m normally optimistic- but patch 7 has made me very salty - loads of planet glitches, stutters and frame drops. Going to post a ticket for the first time ever. See the lines - I can - worse worse in actuality

Yep, the CPU load increased very much. This leads to CPU bottleneck, while the GPU is idle or just partly loaded. Unfortunately impossible to fix by any graphic settings as they don't influence CPU much. https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/42855
I can suggest to press Esc 2 times when you're heavily bottlenecked to get to the main menu and back. It helps me to go out of lag for a little.

I'm finding that the last half kilometre when landing at a planetary port has FPS dropping from a steady (locked) 60 down as low a 4! It lasts around 10 seconds before recovering to almost 60, and FPS drops again departing, although not as dreadfully as landing. I'm not particularly amused by this.

Same here. Was mostly fine pre update 7. Had some stuttering issues in update 5 but update 6 fixed many of these. Since U7 I have the stutter all the time near settlements, with the occasional 0fps freeze.

Yesterday the game froze as I was about to land on >1g planet, when it unfroze the ship throttle was messed up. First I smashed into the ground before the ship decided to then "autopilot" at max speed upwards. At 30km above ground I just quit to desktop. Luckily everything returned to normal when I got back in (apart from being 30km away from where I attempted to land in the first place)

I get this very, very often now when I'm preparing to land on planets. Whatever audio was playing just continues in a loop until the game comes alive again.

i have more frames in some areas, less in others.

and then i have these things i wouldn´t even call "fps-drops" anymore.
because it´s not about frames per second,
it´s about seconds per frame.
feels like some process is stalling,
the first time i encountered this i 100% expected a "ed stopped working" window to pop up

There is definitely some huge stuttering upon arrival at settlements and CZ for me for a few seconds. It tends to go away soon enough in my case but definitely something weird is going on at the start of those instances.

Seconded. I usually notice this the most when I'm descending towards an abandoned settlement with scavengers that need removing. This means I'll have to wait for the necessary seconds until the framerate is back up again before I can give the scavengers their RDA of dumbfire missiles.

Nothing to do with CPU load - see my screenie above - CPU at 20% yet it's still dropping frames....

I am a bit stranged.

I have had a lot of fps drops with update 7.

Then I have upgraded my nvidia driver abnd things went drastically better: 60 fps in concourse and 90-100 in space.

Glitter and hitch only:

1) when I enter a station with my ship

2) definitly glitter at the point it is unplayable for 5-10 sec in Cf at foot at the beginning of the fight.

With those 2 exception, I can say that with update 7 (and update driver) my game experience is improved a lot.

Don't get neither the lod problem here underlined.

My spec is I7 with Gtx 1080.

I think it was @Morbad who illustrated that you need to be sampling CPU activity in milliseconds rather than seconds to see the bottleneck occur.
Not indicating you are wrong - having seen the same behaviour with 12/24 cores/threads on my CPU...
Could be right, although i'd still expect it to be somewhere near the top end of the scale (75%+). Seems a bit odd that every time it polls for data, the CPU is at 15-30%, yet when it's not polling for usage data, usage is topping out...
ahh wellll, im sure they'll fix it at some point...
