Pay to win?

I was wondering what exactly they were going to sell in their store, other than "cosmetics paint jobs etc, to make money to be able to make all those thing they say they will make in future expacks or just the things they still need to add in right now.

The last few changes though are kind of hinting at which way they will go and how exactly they will do this. Now whether this will be p2w or not we will have to see but ..ya lol I am sensing a disturbance in the force :)

Maybe it will takes a litttle bit more Time, but there will be possibilitys to Buy Credits for Real Money.
It was/is in all MMO so ...here you don't make an direct Cash to Cash transfer, in ED you "Meet your Friend" which spare some Valuable Goods with you....

...or you can pay us and we will bring you some gold bars at a specific location. All I need is your paypal account. Pay us and you will win! :D;)

Your being paranoid. I have never bothered with the wear and tear and haven't noticed any difference. Feel better now?

I think the insurance change is quite the opposite, it means that early backers have less of an advantage. I'm not sure what else is indicating pay to win?

If and it is a big "IF" the insurance change is for balance than I would agree. I very much doubt its for balance though.

The signs of P2W coming soon.>
Removal of offline.
Huge price rise for ships.
Module prices many times the original cost of ship.
Then slow creep in expenses, Fuel and repair prices up, Ware and tear.
Trading profits, slowly harder and harder to find good trade route.
And now: Insurance cut.

I tried that in my Viper, eventually one of my multi-cannons stopped working and I got drive malfunctions when trying to go into supercruise... It does have an effect...

I just read this thread. I was hoping to get some clear answers, since the only thing i played was combat training.

If credits sold in the store....think about it.

then hardly any of the early backers will buy them anyway, i already have a fully kitted out Cobra and a fully kitted out type 6 plus i've got 14 million credits in hand - it would take several major disasters to burn through that lot and i don't intend to get another ship until i have half again as many credits as i need to buy the vanilla hull.

chances of me even considering spending real money on in game credits: zero and i expect there are quite a few backers in the same position (this is without using any exploits btw)

Many of us are. Ultimately none of know one way or the other, some of us (myself included), fear that the game may be being made deliberately more of a grind (very high wear and tear costs and now higher insurance), in order to encourage people to drop money for in game credits. There's a good chance I'm simply being paranoid about this, but given that almost nobody was complaining about the insurance benefit, and now a change has been worked in (which the devs would likely have known would go down like a lead balloon)... It seems like a distinct possibility...

Ah but not all backers have played extensively or 24/7 since gamma wipe or have exploited the cash cows that are now gone so by making backers and non backer more equal means more chance in the long term for either buying creds in the store especially if there are "changes" later on.

Read not everyone wants to be a space trader or explorer and piracy/bounty hunting is inherently more dangerous.

Strange. My cobra has done thousands of light years of travel and nearly been destroyed a few times but I have never paid for wear and tear.

Sounds like the mechanic itself is bugged then...
