Paying Fines

Why can't we pay fines through our ship computer? We can receive the information through the computer informing us we have a fine/bounty, so why is it a one way system? It would be so much more convenient than it is now.

I can't even look anyone in the eye in Odyssey without committing a crime! I am pretty much always guilty of something. I constantly have some tiny obscure amount for a bounty and it's always triggering someone aggro. It would probably cost the same as a loaf of bread does in Elite, there is literally no point at all in pursuing me for 500 credits lol - but still I am continuously hounded every time I have a damn bounty as if I am suddenly on the FBI most wanted list.

It is rather annoying constantly having to find the right faction at a space station, docking, paying then going to prison for it anyway, hiring the taxi back to your ship, flying back.... Ugh lol. Just let us pay it through the computer.

"Hold on a second Commander, I'm just going to do a quick scan... HOLY MARY MOTHER OF GOD!! A CRIMINAL?!!" Pew Pew!!

Yeh ..just additional step, annoying in terms missions per second, but part of gameplay. Once you got bounty/fine, next jump is to interstellar factors, then back to handle mission.

Yeah I understand the reasoning behind it. It's done for "gameplay purposes" lol. It's a punishment so you're supposed to feel punished, it makes you have to do something inconvenient and annoying for being a naughty space person. It adds to realism and roleplaying yadda yadda...

But really, there is no reason to just let you pay it instantly via your ship computer so you can continue to go about having fun, doing what you want to do. It would be more realistic in my opinion as it just seems dumb that you can't do that type of thing in the 34th century. It doesn't even feel very realistic anyway when every single guard in the universe is suddenly turning into Robocop and upholding the law on an galactic scale over an unresolved landing pad dispute lol.

Also this game is not supposed to be played 20 mins after dinner. If you don't have time to pay fines, don't play today. Play tomorrow. I think for Odessey you can count 3 hours is minimal time to do something.

Whenever I incur a bounty on a settlement missions I ALWAYS head to the nearest Interstellar Faction (in a system that doesn't have the faction issuing the bounty!) for a quick bounty shower before continuing. It's just too risky entering a settlement with any kind of bounty just in case you miss one of the guards when you're sneaking around.

None of this really matters or applies to what I'm saying though. Oh you could just play for 3 hours and pay your fines! Problem sorted!! I could just play for the same 3 hours and pay my fines in seconds over my ship computer. Wouldn't that just be better?

All I'm basically saying is why can't they add something that would improve the overall experience of nearly everyone to the game by reducing tedium.

Personally I like it. There has to be SOME punishment to certain actions, otherwise there's no point to stealth; just go kill everybody. The fact that there IS punishment for getting caught makes the whole thing more exciting! (for me anyway, but then I play more for the role play rather than to speed run the game).

Always know where your nearest Interstellar Factor is and work in the systems around the IF if you're about to do something illegal (such as criminal massacre missions)

Because flying to interstellar IS THE game. If to listen everybody like: reduce SC time, allow teleport, allow skip interstellar, allow to automatically load fleet carrier, allow, allow - i.e. skip all that "boring" time waste - then no game left.
It is the game - do boring things. If you feel boring - don't play this game.

Realistic punishment?? HAHAHAHA!!!!

I accidentally hit a friendly in a RES - just one very small glancing strike - and immediately became ENEMY #1...
Then made the mistake (hey I'm an idiot, because I tried to pay a fine) of heading back to the nearest base, to pay the fine....

Paid the fine, then got sent to a prison 50LY (!!!!!!!) away - after I'd already paid the fine....
Ship was a short-range fighter, not equipped with large Fuel Tanks.....
The 21 hops to get back are mostly through non-fuel star systems....
Most of the systems don't have bases for fuel....
Thank the stars for FuelRats!
It still took ages and ages to get back to what I was doing....

And a big THANKS - NOT!! to the so-called 'devs' at FD for inventing such a stupidly massive punishment for just one small misfire.

Anyone who thinks that is 'appropriate punishment' is as deluded as the devs...
Basically, why get fired off to a prison ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE F***ING UNIVERSE for every tiny little offence?

except that if the bounty is issued by a faction in the same system as the IF, an annoying bug prevents the fine/bounty from even showing up.

For bounties, yes, I like it, too.
Sent to detention (with an option to pay the bill over there - and have your own shop transfered their, too)

But for this small fines there really should be an option so they can be paid instantly from any computer

Just kill everyone then pay off the bounties if you need to use a station services.

If you can't be bothered, just go somewhere else where you aren't wanted till you can be bothered to go pay em off
