PC crashes when i exit game to desktop

still getting a crash. Its very weird. I can exit to menu, i can launch task manager and i can minimise the game with no problem. However if i close the game or kill the process i get a crash.

It seems you got the "Die Hard" version.... I'm out of suggestions cmdr...

The game or the driver seems to be having issues gracefully releasing resources, but if the game runs acceptably well when it's being played a lack of VRAM is not likely the issue itself (and the IGP on this part is sharing up to half of the system's memory, which is plenty). Lack of total memory might be, especially if the page file was disabled or made too small for Window's memory management to do it's job.

You might be able to reserve more than that 1GiB default by changing the setting in the UEFI setup (if such a setting is absent, a firmware update may reveal it), but I'm not sure that would help.

I had a poke around in the BIOS settings. I have an option for Video memory size - AUTO, 128MB, 256MB, 512MB.

It's currently set to AUTO - Is there any point changing this? I assume it will use the maximum if required anyway.

From a bit of googling it seems my laptop should automatically allocate whatever RAM it needs as VRAM.

no idea change to the max anyway can always change it back
i suppose 1 hr of free play when GNOW sevrers are aval i suppose may be worth taking adv of too no harm in having a free account.................
still if you can play and only crash when quitting thats not so bad really you can always dock and just leave it running of course too ;)

as an experiment you could try downloading and running afterrburner https://www.msi.com/Landing/afterburner/graphics-cards
use the slider and drop the core clock -50mhz or -75mhz at most leave running then play and see if that resolves the full screen black screen
dont save the downclock so pc resumes at stock speed when done and closed

Probably not, as it seems to be reserving a statick 1GiB on AUTO, the dynamically reserving the rest. Reducing the static allocation isn't likely to help, unless the game is exhausting all of your system memory, but has allocated VRAM to spare, which is extremely unlikely.

I vote page file also, how big is your C: drive? How much room is left on it? Do you have more drives or partitions that have more free space?
