Any thoughts since Alpha 2 was released?![]()
I have a lot of thoughts about the whole situation with both games, but in a nutshell, yeah it's definitely looking like RCTW is headed in the wrong direction with no chance to turn it around. And the recent additions to PC are really great. That being said, I still don't enjoy PC in it's current state. The most important parts of the game for me are building roller coasters, laying out the park, and playing an actual game, ideally a difficult one. First, the PC coaster builder could be much better and personally I feel like they should take some hints (ie, directly rip off) some of the functionality of the RCTW coaster builder. Secondly, there is still no global grid or even a way to align to a global axis, no way to measure distances, no height indicators. It's impossible to layout a specific pattern if you can't measure anything. And finally, it's still just a design tool, not a game. In the end whether or not I actually play it is going to depend wholly on the depth of the simulation and campaign mode. So basically, for me right now, it's missing out completely on the most important aspects. RCTW fails hard in countless ways, but it's got a great coaster builder (core functionality), it's got a global grid, and it's got a game, however lacking it is. I should add that I got my fill of RCTW and am not playing it anymore. On the other hand I've tried to play PC several times and it hasn't kept my attention yet. I'm really looking forward to seeing where the game is at closer to release.

Whaaaaat, I had to look that one up and as soon as I saw the cover art I immediately had severe flashbacks. I don't know how I could forget those evaluators, and the magic tracks, and the crash test dummy... so great [big grin]I also played Disney's Coaster (released in 1993) ...
