Performance on Xbox One (2.2)

We ALL play on the XboxOne Mike, no such thing as Elite Dangerous on PS4 (YET, thank you Mr Cynical.)

And even if it was on PS4, i won't tolerate console wars in this forum.. (thats a friendly reminder.)

Can you imagine the potential for real console wars in ed if cross play was a proper thing? :D

If the war is INGAME, and if the PS4 community and Xbox community can discuss, and laugh about it in a friendly way on the forums i have no troubles with it.. BUT, im a long time user of Twitter, and i know by fact, that PS4 gamers, and XboxOne gamers, can't stay in one room without bashing each others brains in.

Now the Elite Dangerous community in general are mid age and older gamers overall. I have good hopes it CAN work.. But to be honest, i fear for it.

That is also why i have a zero tolerance policy about console wars.. I KNOW how bad it can go, personally i got death threats over twitter because i play XboxOne.. And i NEVER participate in console wars. Its extreme.

That was a sarcastic joke but I have found that sometimes Cynical jokes can be missed... that's why I put an lol after it... but I have to say as well that console wars are funny to discuss because some people put their heart and soul into their gaming world, I find that whole concept very funny... I think GAMES are a way to enjoy yourself with out spending a large amount of cash on things that cost an arm and a leg these days in London, most importantly it makes no difference which game play or console you use as long as you have fun doing it

lol console wars.

Elite isn't smooth by any variant of this word's definition. It has a hard time keeping its 60 fps target in most scenarios, can easily drop into the 30's (thankfully it's double buffered, so judder is reduced to its minimum and of course response time is as good as it can be), and can be stuttery as hell in some circumstances (I guess it mostly has to do with dynamic loading). Oh and of course SRVing can be a pain in the butt with the low framerates on some landmasses.

That being said, the game runs fine most of the time and is definitely playable. And most importantly FD is constantly improving it. I remember the time when simply going through the mail slot would deafen you with heavy sound stutter. Now sound output seems pretty robust even in busy combat scenarios.

So well, can't wait for Scorpio, but for now Elite on X1 is enjoyable, if not perfect.

If I own an Xbox One, why would I buy another?

Xbox One S has a slight GPU boost. Nothing major, like 7%, but still a difference.

The Scorpio is not the S though. The S is slightly more powerful indeed, but nothing special. its more just a smaller xboxone.

The Scorpio however, that will be a powerhouse. I hope Frontier will optimize Elite for this console. 1080p 60FPS with ease. :D

If the Scorpio is what MS says it will be, then FD won't even have to do anything. It'll just be a much more powerful X1, just as a PC can be more powerful than another one.

Edit : So of course, better framerates all around, lower loading times, etc :)

Love this game, but last night I was forced to simply log out. Gal map has always been randomly slow, but it became unplayable last night, I would click map and nothing would happen and then game would simply give up trying to load and boot me.

Hoping today is better :)

Today I'm off to try mining as walter got his coffee and sadly I know I have no hope in a combat zone CG (will cost me far more in new ships, than end payout) was going to get few more empire ranks but mission pay is terrible now, some don't even have pay anymore!.

There is definitely a frame rate problem. I see it more often inside starports. I haven't noticed the lag in the galaxy map or Powers menu, but there is one in the starport services menu at times.

All the menus are taking a very long time to load. Yesterday, the Galaxy Map took over a minute to load. Some menus fail to load at all, eg Crew Lounge. This has been long coplained about and FD don't appear to have done anything about it. It was bad before but since 2.2 it's...well... I don't know about anyone else but, for me, I avoid using any and all menus when I can. All that information available on,eg, the Gal Map and me not using it cos I know how long it'll take. I'm sure I'm not the only one. I'd rather have this fixed above all else.

As they optimize the game for the new console if they are under the current console can not optimize the game?
Although visually the game is not what it looks outstanding. Just good. At the same time on a console view distance horrible and disgusting shade. I have nothing on this subject did not say if there were no framerate drop.
All my friends play does not work well, I can record it on video because I have a capture card. I do not understand how some can run the game smoothly. Or you just do not notice or disingenuous.

And one more thing

Let's not discuss someone else's console, as well as those that have not yet entered the market.
But why should I buy a new console just to play a game? I bought at the current generation console. Current console and the game should work perfectly on it. I paid money for it. And the developer has to understand this.
This is not Steam Early Access.

I didn't meant the Xbox 360. I meant, if he owns an Xbox One, he shouldn't buy the Xbox One S.

the only problems ive noticed are sometimes shipyard will take FOREVER to load for me ive not had a single buzzcrash freeze lurch or whatever sense 2.2

YES YES YES there ARE frame rate drops all over the place. Many people are not sensitive enough to notice it. Others can't help but notice it. But just because your eyes don't pick it up doesn't mean it's not there. And it certainly doesn't negate the fact that other people can see it and it bothers them.

For those of you that say frame rate drops and performance issues like this are to be expected, SHAME ON YOU. The developer has a standardized piece of Hardware to optimize their game on. Visuals could easily be toned down to make the game Run smoothly. People who excuse crappy frame rate are excusing lazy Developers.

Of course, I love this game and all FD has done, but every time they release an update they break more than they fix and do not release patches in a timely manner. The heat meta is a perfect example. It was not functioning as intended but they let the live build suffer for months before they fixed it with this patch( which broke a bunch of other stuff)

I am all for Progress I'm all for new features and I'm all for giving them the benefit of the doubt. But time and time again they've made my favorite game unplayable for weeks or months at a time.

Every patch feels like a Gamble and The House Always Wins. Guess it's time to hang up Elite AGAIN and wait for the next patch.

Come on Lucky Sevens mama needs a new pair of shoes

honestly I think (not naming names or implying anybody here is) a lot of people are spoiled by socalled uberpc's (120fps ultra high gfx ectra ectra) me not so much(I play 1 game im better at then most of the people I play with and I average 9-15 fps they average 40-90 and there shocked that I beat them on my 'weak pc' as they call it)

but I personally rather deal with a game that takes 2 minutes to load a map or maybe dips from 30(or 60)fps that keeps new content coming and fixes bugs that will break the game nomatter what your FPS is

people need to remember that theve never built an elite game like this before bugs are bound to pop up a lot of which people probably don't know how to describe properly to get fixed then you gotta add for our experience we need to wait for Microsoft to approve it maybe not all fixes go in each patch because of that or something,i don't know

case in point, everybody says the games unplayable,i must be one of the few(and I know yall exist) who hasent had to shelf the game for months cause of bugs and such cause it hasent been for me sense GPP

im not denying theres problems im not encourageing them to ignore em I just hope people who have the problems report em more with more info so we can limit em no game is ever gonna be 100% bug free I don't think,we might not allways see the bugs but there probsbly always gonna be there

During a recent drop-down to a station out of SC, while it was loading I had a bunch of 'ships' frozen in place in front of my ship, as can sometimes happen (yknow, the glowy light things that represent ships in SC). What caught my eye was some smexy lens flare effect going on around them. Not just the traditional glow and comet-y trail, those were there too, there was some distinct lens flare action going on.

I'm wondering if this is (one of the things) causing frame drops perhaps.
