Noise suppressors, scopes, grips, larger magazines, etc. can be swapped in 2023, why can't that happen in 3309?

Probably some intellectual property rights thing... you know what corporations are like.
Just using an engineer probably invalidates the warranties...

A few problems with this explanation:

• Things like magazines are modular by definition.

The ammo clips we pick up from the orange boxes around settlements can't be the larger magazines though... that's something intrinsic to the gun.
