Petition: Save Arena (CQC)!

It's a nice thought CMDR StarfireIX, but I would never use it regardless. What I really really REALLY want to see is the arena fleshed out similarly to what you outlined and then brought into the main game. I think that would be awesome!

Fully agree, gladiator type of fights, or space racing are good space sport entertainment and would lead to interesting bespoke ship build. but they need to be inside the game and should be able to great emergent game play with the current environment. The new CQC assets inside the game scream to be used as a foundation for that.

As you all know, FDev have stopped working on Arena, after they had other commitments such as the new Planet Coaster and Elite: Dangerous itself. The player-base in Arena has become scarce, due to the lack of features and the outdated matchmaking system. There are some Elite communities that organize friendly duels, but getting enough people can be an issue. PvP events in Open Play or PG is also tricky, depending if your ship blows up or you have to pay a hefty repair cost.
So I have created a petition for FD to revive the gamemode, along with some key features that they can implement to improve the experience of friendly PvP. Features mentioned in the petition are:
- The ability to import your ship to Arena, without any rebuy costs or worries.
- A server browser should replace the current matchmaking system, as it can be sometimes hard to find other players around the world.
- Engineered, Un-Engineered and Mixed filters should be available when creating or finding a match. Competitive matches should also be taken in consideration.
- Better payouts for matches. Competitive matches could have even higher payouts, as they are more challenging and rewarding.

The petition is currently at 100, due to limits change.org have for standard petitions. Also thoughts, ideas, and feedback is welcome and taken in consideration for the petition, as the above are just some examples (but key) features needed for Arena. Let's hope FDev revives Arena to its full potential.

Personally I don't exactly agree with what you've asked for here. I reckon all that's required is to include the ability to create private matches and fill empty spots with AI. But then, I wouldn't die in a ditch over the things you propose if in addition though.
