pharmaceutical isolators at HGE Outbreak systems

Hi folks,

I followed a farming guide that said a way to get pharmaceutical isolators, is go to any system with high population which is in outbreak and look for HGE. When I do that though, I keep getting stuff I already have such as either proprietary or core dynamics composites. I was at a place with population in the billions.

Does anybody know the criteria for a system that would have these at the HGE sites?

Check if the USS is the faction that is in the needed state.

And even then it is possible the isolators will not be there. You will not get a 100% hit rate

Annoyingly, a faction's superpower alignment will often override their state when it comes to what drops in their HGEs. In this case, it's a federal faction.

Look for an independent or alliance faction in outbreak.

Shinigami - it’s a small system in Empire space, always has plenty of HGEs and they always have PIs. If you get there and there aren’t any, drop into one of the other local systems, Ch’i Lin for example, try there and then head back to Shinigami - it’ll probably have some by then.

Its been my source of PIs for a long time now, seems a very stable system.

Guess I have to wait for outbreak state, nothing there now.

Well, PI come from factions in Outbreak. Not Systems, but Factions.
Also PI are very rare - having a quite low chance to pop in a HGE.

So to maximize chances you need to:
  • find factions that are in Outbreak, but that have no other states. If a faction has Outbreak and Boom, there is a way bigger chance to get Proto Radiolic Alloys or Proto Heat Radiators than PI
  • you need to make sure those factions are preferably Independent or Alliance. Imperial factions may work too, but never go for Fed Factions. The superpower alignment (Fed especially but also Imperial) will add to the Outbreak state and you'll have a way bigger chance to get Core Dynamics or Imperial Shielding than PI

So check Inara for factions in Outbreak
Then check those factions to make sure they dont have other states or they're not Fed faction (you may want to check Imperial factions since even they will not give you PI, they will give you a ton of Imperial Shielding which you can trade for whatever you need - I found several times systems with 6-7 HGE each giving between 9 and 15 IS)

This is also valid for other rare stuff like Improvised Components
