Phasing sequence pulse lasers

These are awesome. Putting the pain on the enemy before their shields drop. Seems to panic a lot of NPCs who run off the moment they take damage - so a great way to repel pirates. Just for kicks I managed to let one guy get his shields back up after I'd shot him full of holes. Then I used the pulses to pop him...… whilst his shields were still up! Hilarious. And the dirty pirate had it coming.

Seriously. If you don't have these already, get yourself some. They're the best.

Nine times out of ten though I believe it will take longer to kill anything due to the damage reduction. Fun for irritating other commanders that interdict you though.

Circumventing shields is always nice.

Basically. The damage done through to the hull is neglable compared to the damage you loose to do it and unless your going up the tankiest of shield tanks that also has almost no armor, its going to take you longer than just equipping a higher DPS weapon.

This is a really bad idea.

Actually is it? I thought is was at first but with the way damage is calc'd it might be okay.
They may have no armor penetration but phasing damage ignores armor. They even do a non-insignificant amount of damage against targets with corrosive effect on them. You only need to be within 500m to get hits in properly. A Sidewinder with a Cytoscrambler and corrosive fragment cannon may actually kill things a lot bigger than itself.

I'll stick to quintuple fragcannons.

They make short work of pretty much everything, including shield.

Has to be the biggest trollgun setup currently in the game.

It's a good choice but I don't use them, don't like the color. Yes, I'm weird like that :D
Don't want to purchase a weapon color either because you can't use it on a single hardpoint.

I'll have to try out short range modded Cytoscramblers with phasing sequence. Might be fun.

You want Long Range, not Short Range. Unless you're basically ramming them, the falloff from Short Range is horrible.

But Phasing Cytos are actually pretty effective, especially on the Chief and Challenger

I've always found them a bit meh. On pulse, by the time I get their shields down I might have a head start on the hull by... 2 or 3%.

Long range? With the jitter you can barely hit anything reliably 1km out, let alone six. Currently I have scrambling spectrum efficient on the Chieftain and those work fine, especially the low capacitor draw allows me to stick with one pip to weapons. To make use of short range mods, you probably need a small ship to stay in 500m of the target.

Short Range doesnt change the Falloff though, only maximum range. Which isnt that great in the Cryto to begin with.

Edit: speaking of short range, whats the range of Interial impact on Turreted Burst Lasers. Feel like putting 4 on the Top of a Brand new Cutter because I want to but I don't know what that looks like.
