Newcomer / Intro Pilots' Federation Superpower Reputation?

When completing missions for the Pilots' Federation, the Pilots' Federation reputation goes up and so does a bar for superpower reputation. What does superpower reputation for the Pilots' Federation mean?

There is no Pilot's Federation Superpower, just the Federation. They're two different things.

Not much now. It does increase how much rep you gain with Federation factions though. I believe you can also become Hostile in all Federation space.

Each minor faction that you do missions for can have an affiliation with one of the superpowers. The minor faction called the "Pilot's Federation Administration" does not have a superpower affiliation - they are Independent. You will not therefore see any superpower reputation bar when you do missions for them.

If, on the other hand, you are doing missions for minor factions aligned with the Federation (not the Pilot's Federation - they are two different entities), then you will see Federation reputation bars.

Gaining Reputation with the Federation does not do as much as it used to. It used to change the baseline friendliness for all aligned factions - so if you became Alied with the Federation, you became Allied with every single Federation-aligned faction in the game too. But now, all it does is give a modifier for the minor faction's reputation slider, so that missions give you more reputation points witht he minor faction.

Example: suppose it normally takes 20 missions of a certain type to go from Neutral to Allied with a minor faction. But if you are Allied with the federation and the minor faction giving you the missions is Federation-aligned, then you will only need to do 10 of thse missions to become Allied with the minor faction.

I also believe you need to be at least Friendly with the Superpower before they will start to give you ranking-up missions.

Finally, note that Superpower reputation does "decay" in certain circumstances. Specifically, if you go above 75% Friendly with a Superpower, then the rep will decay (at about 2% per day, I believe) until it drops down to 75% again. This effectively makes it impossible to become, and remain, at 100% Allied with all three Superpowers. Rep also anti-decays if you drop below 25% Hostile.

When you choose Rep +++ for example, does it count as 3 missions?

Not really, since most missions give Rep++ towards your reputation with the faction that gave you the mission. So probably more like 1 1/2 missions... :)

@OP. If you saw your superpower rep increase, it was either due to taking a mission from a minor faction aligned with that superpower (so not the Pilot's Federation as they are independent) or perhaps because you were delivering something for the PF (data or cargo) and the destination faction was superpower aligned.

Right now, I'm working for an Independent that will grant me a Permit "follow-up mission" once I reach "Friendly" status with them. I was just wondering how the Rep worked regarding missions for the Independent.

I do see a superpower reputation bar when completing Pilots' Federation missions. It increases very slowly. Is it a real superpower? Or just a bug?

Apparently the Pilots Federation is a superpower on its own. On inara the "Pilots' Federation Administration" faction lists "Pilots' Federation" as its allegiance. Same for "Pilots' Federation Local Branch".

You are mistaken, none of the 3 superpower reputations are in play in the starter zone. Here is my mucking-about-in-the-noob-zone account - 100% allied with the local / system faction (Pilots' Federation Administration) from doing loads of missions and below that you can see that the superpower reputations are 0% - totally virgin.

@Para Handy when you hand in a mission for Pilots Federation Administration in the starter systems, do you see one or two reputation progress bars in the mission completion screen? If two, is the second one for Pilots Federation? Could be they use Pilots Federation as a pseudo superpower to ensure starters leave the starter systems with 0% reputation for all superpowers.

I've had two pilots go through the Newbie Zone recently, and I recall seeing two. One for 'Pilots Federation', and one for 'Super Power'. This latter seemed to go up very slowly, if at all.

I didn't think too much of it at the time, and sadly both pilots are now out of the Newbie Zone and had their permits revoked, so I can't go back and check.

Nor am I inclined to zero any of them and try again.

That said, currently ED+H are 80% off on Steam atm, and I am super weak willed, so...

Yes - I just re-checked with a quick mission and completion shows a superpower bar as well as the Pilots' Fed Admin rep bar - of course, no superpower was actually involved.

Looking at inara and EDDB it seems they use the Pilots Federation as a dummy superpower/allegiance for the special factions Pilots' Federation Local Branch and Pilots'Federation Administation. It's the same in the old starter systems and it was also used in incursion systems for the megaships and anti-thargoid missions IIRC.

I have seen Pilots' Federation Administration at stations, but what does Pilots' Federation Local Branch do?

They control a number of stations in the old starter systems and a few special places (Jameson Memorial for example). If the Thargoids attack stations they send a rescue ship and two megaships with anti-xeno weapons, outfitting, refuel, repair and restock services that can be used as temporary bases.

Im purty new to the game after playing Outerworlds for a week
