Engineers Pinned Blueprint - What is the point?

Does the pinned blueprint serve any purpose other than being able to look at it?

Is there any way to actually apply the mod from the blueprint without being at the engineer's station?

If so, please tell me how. I have not been able to figure it out.

If not, the idea of pinning a blueprint seems worthless.

That seems to be the only point. I can remember that. Or if I suddenly go stupid, write it down on a piece of paper.

Let me know if you figure out a way to actually USE a blueprint to modify a piece of ship equipment without being docked with the engineer.

I look at pinned blueprints all the time. If you have several engineers it's nice to see what your looking for. I have a terrible memory.

I do wish we could filter or highlight missions with items in our blue prints. Or to filter drones to only gather blue print materials...

It's bizarre. Why can't we just see all the mods and requirements on the Engineers screen for those that are unlocked? Pinning blueprints seems like an utterly pointless hurdle, it just encourages the use of an outside source like Inara. It's basically up there with the magical roulette wheel in terms of wasted development time.

What a load of rubbish.

The pin blueprint function is, like the rest of the engineers, designed for players who only don't grind engineering and only do a single upgrade at a time. Just use a pen and paper or external site.

i must admit i dont get the pinned blueprint. why on earth cant we see them all once we have visited an engineer?

but even that aside, i am convinced i keep pinning a blueprint then a few weeks later go to look at it and i apparently have nothing pinned for that engineer.

i would not care normally, i can just print them out on paper but its a PITA when in VR.

But in the sheer mass of Blueprints of the RNGineers its usefulness is indeed extremely limited.

It would be nice if pinning a recipe was like making a public notice to the mission boards regarding what kind of materials you're particularly interested in. Kind of like holding up a sign that reads "Will work for Chemical Manipulators".

There is no point. The way it has been implemented doesn't even make sense. Pin one blueprint per engineer. You should be able to view all blueprints after visiting a specific engineer. Why not? Instead you have to go to another third party site (like Inara) to get the information. It looks like they wanted to do more with it but didn't have time.

I don't mind pinning a much-used blueprint, but there seems to be a bug where you lose the pin after a while. This is mildly frustrating.
