Pirate team missions but in Solo: a question to Fdev

THIS IS WHAT I DO TO IMPROVE COMBAT SKILLS IN SOLO:

Alone 'I train' taking SINGLE PIRATE combat wing missions but IN SOLO, and engaging with those you understand more and more the rudiments and automate actions, such as the PIP and maneuvers.
Try to take missions for single pirate assassination wing: you find yourself alone against FdL / Python + 2/3 elite Vultures.

I assure you that it is a good training: the first few times I ran away after 1 minute, now by setting the ship well and putting into practice what you see and explain to you I can complete them and also test different builds.
tip: > if you're still not sure enough to fight 1v4 do this: just jumped into the pirate system DON'T LOOKING for THE MISSION TARGET ON THE NAVIGATOR but for THE PIRATE IN CRUISE AND INTERDICT HIM by keeping the CRIME ON. (if Pirate doesn't appear exit and enter SC again for respawning him, or jump out and in again in the system).
In this way after a few minutes the police will arrive and will mainly deal with the Vultures so that you can continue to focus on the FdL.
⚔️

ok, now the question is:
it often happens that, when the police also intervene, once the Pirate has exploded, the mission fails, and this happens ONLY when the Police intervene. It seems that it has to do with the ratio of damage inflicted by the player to that inflicted by the Police, but it is not clear what it is. it seems like a random thing.
Someone have an idea about it?...

same rules apply as to when you get a bounty voucher for the kill or experience rewarded for combat rank. irrc correctly: need to hit in the last 30 (20?) seconds before the killl, need to be in range, and some minimum percentage of damage you have to inflict.
those rules have changed quite a lot over the years, probably somebody knows the newest iteration.

the only thing I can say is why bother with the vultures?
they have a worthless bounty and are merely a distraction

every one of these that I've done was successful simply by killing the target.
and as long as crimes is off, keeps the security away and for this = better results.
if you depend on security to take out the wing fdl, you are going to lose some kills.

what exactly were you doing while the target was being killed?
I think you had to have stopped shooting or missed a lot in order for security to steal a kill like this.

what weapons are you using?
I don't use for these missions but are you aware of the speed of long range MC's ?
they can make sure you are actually hitting a fast ship

getting the main damage is most important, obviously, but you have to finish, as in don't stop shooting till it goes boom.

tbh this sounds similar to some cmdrs saying npc's cheat because they fly away at 0%
this is not and never was a thing, 0% = under 1%. there is at least .90 left....
as it sounds like you stopped shooting way too early.

0% means nothing
BOOM means you can stop shooting now.

my preference is another fast ship with better weapons, obliterate afap

I seem to recall the time on target for final kill = most hits for at least last 10 seconds
beams make this a guarantee
easily wrong
as for assassinate missions, long ago built many ships that npc's can't run from
long range weapons help
overkill weapons and good piloting works too.
crime=off
if you must or rather if you want help, train a slf pilot .
they make a great distraction.

Thx cmdrs, to be clear:
  • I use PA
  • I stay focus till the boom of the pirate
  • focusing only the main pirate
  • delivering also the last hits and in range of course

But sometimes mission fails anyway.
That the question: why?

if its not because of the security, I have no idea. I have never had any fail unless I allowed another ship to shoot my target
I have taken the notoriety a few times to stop other ships shooting my target.
I always watch for this and make sure it never happens
report crimes = off, otherwise expect problems.

fwiw report crimes = on, has been off for me for many years.
it ruined many many missions before I finally turned it off for GOOD.

most of the ships I use for this mission are using hammers and maybe a long range MC, depends on the ship
I mostly use the conda for this mission type, 5 hammers does the job very quickly.
the moment he explodes I get the big blue letters telling me mission complete...
anything else would get a support ticket generated.

I only do them in horizons.
the only flaw if you will I ever get, is the not here, go to another system and find a guy that'll tell u where he is. I abandon these instantly.
that's just my response, that isn't a bug or anything. and my response is, too bad..I may work for you but you wasted my time, be happy I don't shoot you.
I used to always complete them. can't be bothered to. get it right or don't talk to me.

either you are missing some info or somehow you are getting a bug I have not seen.

Kite the target away from the others the police will deal with them once they arrive...focus on the target only.
An anaconda (no rep grind) equipped with all frag cannons (only 1 pip req) the rest in shields and engines. You'll destroy it in no time. Use pacifiers once unlocked. Even quicker hehe
Double shot screening shell

ok, after several combat it seems that its all related to the last seconds:
just before the pirate boom if you land enough hits compared to the police, the mission is accomplished

this happen also in the last CG CZs: when many CMDRS hits the same ship sometimes you get NO MONEY!
@fdev would it be possible to know the% at least?

In a CZ or when bounty hunting, I always invite other players into a wing (as I usually play in Mobius, this only happens at CGs like the current). Not a solution if they are in a wing already, of course.

If they decline or don't react, I either try to stay away from them (not really an option in a CZ), or I move to a different HazRes or CZ. No other way around that. You can always block them and try an instance reset... but that's kind of a Richard move.
