PlanCo 2 suggestions from the Toilet Chat

All,

As much as we all love Planet Coaster, we as "Toilet Chat" members thought it was time for us as well to come up with a little Wishlist for Planet Coaster 2.

First of all we hope Planet Coaster won't start from scratch again. It took over 3 years to get most of our favorite rides and scenery in the game and it would be a shame if we needed to start all over again.
So if even remotely possible we hope the game will start where Planco 1 left off. So we assume we keep the rides and scenery we already have with maybe a few twists and tweaks.

We tried to come up with just realistic idea's and don't go too overboard on outrageous suggestions.

Ride upgrades

Tower Rides :
Earlyer tower rides had a fixed height and sometimes came in different versions in order to be able to have different heights. Later on the tower rides were flexible in height, which is ofcourse what we prefer!!
It would be nice if the older tower rides would be upgraded to have a flexible height.

Water Rides :
Some water rides could be a bit more flexible. For example going into a water splash requires a certain fixed angle which is sometimes a bit frustrating.
Turntables in the logflume would also be a nice to have!

Duplicates :
Although this isn't a top priority, it would be nice if we can get rid of the duplicate rides. Right now we have 4 Go Kart rides while the only difference is the car. If possible this should be reduced to be simply 1 ride with the option for several different cars. This also applies to the tracked rides. Hopefully when there isn't a 1-1 relationship between track and car it would be a bit easier to get more variations in car types.

Dual Station :
It would be nice to be able to have the option to make boarding and unboarding possible on different stations.

New Rides

Omnimovers :
For a long time it looked like omnimovers were impossible in Planet Coaster but with the introduction of the chairlift it came really close.
In Planet Coaster 2 we would love to see some real omnimovers, for example a spooky one like in Disney's haunted mansion and maybe a more generic one for other purposes.

Suspended Tracked Rides :
Like the regular tracked rides but suspended. For example Efteings's Droomvlucht or Disney's Peter Pan.

Powered Coaster :
A coaster like Max & Moritz at Efteling or Europaparks Enzian. Those coasters aren't boosted but are simply motorized. The (target) speed and acceleration should be set per track piece.

Free Roam Boat Rides :
Free roaming boats on a lake (Like RCT3), maybe in a couple of different themes for example swan boats, pirate boat, paddle boats, generic, etc.

Cable Towed Boat Ride :
Those ones can't go up and down vertically but move at a constant (adjustable) speed. (For example Fata Morgana at Efteling)

Generic Seat blocks :
Those might sound a little odd but it would be nice to have generic seat blocks which you can connect to function as a single ride. You could then develop and decorate your own Cinema / Theater / Show / Performance with scenery and triggered effects.

Helter Skelter :
Classic ride, no explanation needed.

Splash Battle :
Preferably with guests reacting to the water. And in a perfect world this can be operated by us players as well just like how we can operate the Quick Draw shooting ride.

Walkthrough attraction system :
Be able to define an A to B path that would be a ride. Then decorate with scenery as desired. A few things to make attractions more exciting which would need interaction. Fun house mirrors, other fun house type features, mini golf sections etc and any other interactive type thing. Then as part of this and also to work outside this system, a way to trigger effects on people moving past it. Would be nice for reactions too but not needed if complicated. But to be able to scare and squirt people with water would be nice.
Excitement would be based on scenary, and such features. Can build, haunted houses, potentially mazes if the pathfinding can be tweaked for it, fun houses, fancy mini golf and more.

Gameplay Updates

Mixmaster :
The mixmaster in Planet Coaster has some really neat features yet a lot of people prefer the RCT3 one with a timeline. It was less flexible on what you could do with it, but it was way more easy to create a show with it because of the timeline.
It would be cool if we could have the best of both worlds. Keep the good stuff from the PlanCo mixmaster but add a timeline feature like we had in RCT3.

Lighting :
In order to create real darkrides it would be amazing if we could have proper darkness inside of buildings. I can write an essay about the why's and everything that comes with it, but I think the idea behind this request speaks for itself.

Coaster & Tracked Ride loading :
Loading a coaster train can take quite some time, especially on tracked rides it lowers the capacity of the ride by a large margin.
In order to add a gameplay element and a sense of realism it would be nice if you could assign multiple staff members. Having just 1 staff member means low costs but it takes a while before all restrains are checked and the train is ready to leave the station. Having 2 or even 3 staff members assigned would have more costs as it would require more staff but the boarding and unboarding process would take less time.

Queue for Single Riders :
Of course this is not mandatory to use on all rides. We already have the fast pass queue, adding the single riders queue would add to the difficulty of developing and operating a ride at the fullest capacity.

On-ride Photo's :
Pretty much speaks for itself. Pictures taken here can later on be bought at certain shops.

Weather (Seasons) :
Lets have the rain (and umbrella's, poncho's) make a return in Planet Coaster 2. Preferable with certain interests getting a boost in different seasons. Like people have a higher desire for water rides during summer season while in winter they get a little boost for darkrides and/or indoor area's, etc.

Parades :
Altough a bit difficult to implement maybe, we would love to have parades. Flexibility is the middle name of this game so we should be able to decorate our own cars. We came up with the idea to have a few "base" cars that you can dress up by sticking scenery to it in the same way you do with buildings. Once ready save it, and if can function as a car for a parade. Ofcourse later on you should select which cars you want in the parade, the speed and the route.

Railroad Crossings :
Pretty much speaks for itself.

Heatmaps :
Likewise to Planet Zoo. It's a really neat feature!

Triggered Effects :
Triggering effects when people walk by. For example Fun house mirrors, changing pictures, Squirting water and if possible the already existing triggered items.

Shops And Restaurants

Restaurants :
The shops we have right now are very nice and in no way we want to get rid of them. But those are all like little kiosks instead of restaurants. RCT3 had just a vendor and you could assign the things the vendor would sell. We would love to see this make a return in PlanCo 2 so we can develop, build and decorate our own restaurants! Preferable with guests sitting down for a slightly longer period of time then they currently do at pick nick tables.

Toilets :
See restaurants, would be nicer if we could decorate a toilet area ourselves. Decide how large it should be, how many toilets, and therefore the capacity and running costs.

Games :
More variety in crane games. Or even better, some different games to play.

General gifts :
Add more variety in items that can be sold. Preferably like how it was in RCT3 where you could add as many imaginary items as you liked. For visual consistency they could be packed in a branded bag from Planet Coaster or one of the shop brands.

Themes
Again I can't ask enough to please don't remove what we already have, but there is always room for more

  • Steampunk
  • Atlantis
  • Fantasy (Traditional High Fantasy Setting with Dwarves, Elves, Orcs, Etc. Building Pieces for Dwarves, Elves and additional Scenery & Animatronics.)
  • Toyland

Real doors :
Real doors, sliding doors, etc for shops and buildings.

Path's & Landscape

Fill option :
A fill option would be nice for plaza's. Let's imagine you make a full circle with pathway, then select the fill tool, select a path type and it will automatically fill the inner area into pathway of the desired kind.

Terrain Type :
It was a suggestion since day 1 almost to have more available terrain types in your map. When the game released we had to choose a biome and that biome would have 8 terrain types. Later on we were given the option to select 8 terrain types ourselves which was already a huge improvement! (You can't imagine how happy I was with this option!) But of course more is better and it would be neat to have more available terrain types in Planet Coaster 2.

Billboards

Image / Video :
Right now the off-state for a video billboard is just a dark screen. Would be nice if you can have a picture on it until the billboard gets triggered and a movie will start. So the off-state can be 2 things, just a black screen or a selected picture.

Brightness :
If possible technically it would be very neat to be able to adjust the brightness of a picture / movie projected on the billboard.

Don't

Last but not least a few DONT's. It might sound a little ungrateful but there are a few roads we feel Planet Coaster 2 should not go.

Black box restaurants :
People asked for Restaurants and shops and we got those in the form of black boxes. Especially for the restaurants this was not the best idea. It would be much nicer if we could design our own restaurants, decorate it, etc etc.
The black box feels a little bit un-planco and doesn't really fit the game as everything is realistic except for all those people walking into a make believe restaurant.

Black box hotels :
Im not as critical about the hotels as I am for the restaurants. As with restaurants there is a very clear better option while with the hotels it's not as clear on how it can be done better. It would be way too time consuming to design 300 bedrooms so that's not an option either. But there should be a way on how to make hotels a little nicer.

Black box toilets :
Same as restaurants. Would be nice to design our own toilet area's. Decide how many toilets to place and therefore decide the required capacity at a certain toilet area.

Utility's :
In Planet zoo buildings requires water and power. Maybe it works for Planet Zoo but it is a little bit repetitive when you have to do this for every building you place. We agree this is just an opinion but we would advice to stay away from utility's, warehouses, stock distribution, parking lots, etc.

PS. Don't remove custom music ;) and or the ability to add scenery with the TMT.

Thanks for reading!

I also want to add but perhaps you are not all in agreement. I would love more themed carriages and variations of certain rides. There's only so much we can do with turning collision off and theme less shells looking rides. It would be wonderful to have more versions of magic twirl for example. I love magic twirl and it's theme. But would be great to have others Rockets, elephants, magic carpets etc. More track ride car types like horse and carriage, Steam punk airship in the inverted track ride option, and boats for things like Peter Pan. Bath tubs like Alton Towers and Tripsdrill, lifeboats like Drayton manor. Colourable individual carriages. I miss being able to make rainbow trains on my coasters 😭

I agree!!

I think it requires a LOT of work for the flat rides so I wouldn't dare to ask for that but when it comes to tracked rides I agree 100%
That's one of the reasons why I hope that PlanCo 2 will no longer have the 1to1 relationship between car and coaster.

That might make it just a little bit more easy to implement more car types without having to add an entire new ride.

I understand it can be a lot of work so I'm not saying an endless amount.. but a handful would be nice

Some of the management in parkitect is boring though. I wouldn't want to deal with stock and waste management, same as power. Sucks the joy out of it. Some things I do like though, like the little events that happen that effect guest numbers or profits. Some good graphs and tools to help with management. What things do you suggest?

I actually like all the management from parkitect. Not tough once you figure out how each one works.

My favorite management aspect of the game is the decoration/hiding staff(immersion breaking) mechanic. It makes decorating and themeing actually functional. Good themeing boosts guest happiness and spending. Also, allows for more realistic staff management with staff paths and zoning. Encourages the Backlot/behind the scene stuff.

I like the waste and restocking just would tweak it by adding staff carts/vehicles to speed up delivery and capacity, so that you don't have to plan loads of sections.

As for power management, I don't remember Parkitect having that. Planet Zoo does and that is frigging annoying

i want pre themed shops and stalls back and pre themed rides and a plop down rides like a haunted house and crooked house basically i want rct3 tycoon elements in the game . i'm a tycooner a super theme park creator.

"First of all we hope Planet Coaster won't start from scratch again." - That would probably be my #1 request! The ability to use the rides, tracks and scenery we already have I feel is important. There's now almost 10,500 objects in the TMTK Workshop, that represents a HUGE amount of work by players, especially for a feature that probably didn't get the support and backing it perhaps should have by Frontier.

My other suggestions/requests are to PLEASE standardize scale in this game. I understand that some items are up-scaled to 120% or so to look better, but scales for things like windows and doors are all over the place. Some pieces are grossly out of scale and so seldom used.

And secondly, if you are going to have a theme then please fully fill out that theme with all pieces. Someone went to the trouble here before to catolog the pieces that were missing from each theme. In a game that allows you to mix and match to create something new it's frustrating to have incomplete theme sets sometimes.

I don't know how many times I've been building, find there is no piece in the theme I'm building from, need to find a piece from a different theme that will substitute, search until I find something that will work, only to find the coloring of the texture is completely off even using the same HEX code. or it's not the same thickness or scale.

It sometimes feels like there was a standardized style guide used to design objects at first, then it was misplaced or abandoned later. That has been one of my few real pet peeves about this game since the beginning. It was never addressed so I'm hoping it won't happen again in a sequel.

Although I agree on the scaled scenery issue, I'd like to see a scaling tool included (the 3D standard translation/rotation/scale Advanced Move tool is missing scale). Park scenery tricks like up %120 to look better, shrinking upper floor windows & details to make buildings look taller, forced perspective, etc, we could all do ourselves from standard-size scenery with a scaling tool.

Although I realize there's potential issues, IMHO they're no good reason to deny us scaling in-game.

I just put a color panel behind the window of a gingerbread staff building, and realized I'd like to be able to trigger it with staffroom (and given that, other facilities) events. Is there someone in the staffroom? The panel is a lit warm yellow. Nobody in? They turned out the lights when they left, of course, so the panel's an unlit dark blue.

There's a ✅ to mark on the wishlists when PC2 will appear.

Here's what will be in a PC 2 for sure...

Custom restaurants instead of black boxes!

Custom restaurants will make their way in PZ on Dec 14th

For a PC 2 there will probably be a more advanced version of it.
Maybe they'll add a similar upgrade for hotels...
