For anybody having issues with verification failed. Can you try navigating to the folder
"C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Platform\config.dat" and and rename it to configold.dat and try again please!

Just tried that, still getting Verification failed.

I just downloaded the exe - can I install the launchpad and download everything else on my usb drive and use it later when I'm at home? Does anyone know?

@ Kudden: Restart (reboot computer) did not solve the problem with not being able to click in the menu (mouseover is working)

Ok! I tried to start the launcher in admin mode but did not work either.
