xSHADOWx is right. The steam workshop is a joke. It doesn't filter blueprints well and it glorifies only a handful. There is no reason to make it worse by having a contest to add more useless content. Why does Frontier find it so important to break the 100,000 contributions if half of it is going to be junk? Now we have people going out of their way to add more junk to the workshop as Luuknoord, the very first poster acknowledges :
What constitutes "really awful?" What if my 10 year old wants to share his fab toilet? Is he dq'd because he doesn't have the talent of some adult? This is a bad idea for a contest and I think its going to cause resentment.
I should have rephrased my 'really awful' comment; I meant more like really offensive and inappropriate items that might be randomly selected would of course not qualify.
I personally think the Workshop is an incredible way to show off people's creativity and thought process when playing the game. We want to celebrate that creativity; at the same time we can't monitor the quality of the content that goes out there - I understand that for people like yourself who are great at creating things and would like to see such quality across the board find it then frustrating to see 'lesser items' in there. But hey, those people might in turn be super proud of their work; who are we to judge? (Tune in to our livestream later to see two people creating things that they're proud of but nobody else will think the same [big grin][wink])
The community works together in such a way where it upvotes and rewards blueprints that are awesome and pleasing to the eye, submit items that they're proud of directly to me, and you can also filter the Workshop to your needs (by using tags, searching for specific items, or going into the 'Most popular' tab).
Quality over Quantity should be what we want to work towards... not just a large number.
Quality over quantity..
We simply want to celebrate a big milestone that's exciting to us and involve all of our wonderful community. [heart]
