Planet Coaster Day Two Discussion Thread

A bit dissapointed about today's dev stream. The management side does not seem to be that evolved since RCT3 in comparison to everything else. But okay, I admit that there's not much wrong with taking the opportunity to show that it's there.

About that Olli guy, I can see the value he has with +1.000.000 subs. But his stream was mind boggling bad. It's no problem to me that he can't build a whole building or awesome coaster like Silvarret did. I even dare to say that it would be a bad thing if we would be watching to a Silvarretstyle two times a day. But for the live of god, please invite someone that actually know how to get a simple, straight forward park which contain every new available function. That's what those streams are for, aren't they? To show us and potential PC buyers what the game is capable of and what we can expect when whe start Alpha 3 in a few days...

Still wondering if the path grid can be used to create a plaza. I hope the next player will try to do so.

Frontier, do you know when the REVOLVE land ride will be coming out? I suspect it may not be with Alpha 3. It's in 1:03 in their Announcement Video.

Glad to see the tea cups ride coming out with Alpha 3, and water and security staff and cleaners and new rides.

With Alpha 3, I'm happy that they are releasing this ride. It's the Stratosphere at New Zealand, Auckland's Rainbows End.

The Park also has rides which are very similar to what Planet Coaster currently offers, including the pirate ship and fear fall. I'm also looking forward to the new characters that will be in the game. The cow on the bouncy ball, and the princess. I like gulpee, and overall, I love the ideas and graphics of this game.

I know it's still alpha & this isn't a complaint of any kind. I think the game looks seriously amazing. However, during the stream with Flabaliki when he pov's the coaster, there's some pretty strange reflections/shadows on the water that appear/wipe across as he gets closer/further away. Is that something that'll be looked at or improved as it's pretty strange to see when the game looks as good as it does??

Thanks :)

I'm getting more and more turned off by these streams, there's no real 'WOW' factor about them, just basic run of mill stuff, certainly nothing to pop a rod over, now I know there's two more to come, but my understanding is that it's blueprints on sat [bored] we know what that entails, and Sunday is just a recap of everything from the three previous streams, you would of thought it being 'gamescom' they would use the opportunity to really promote the game, and what they intend to include for release, so far they've said nothing of real interest.....to those that are playing alpha that is.

How about giving us something to really look forward to, like confirming all the flat rides (surely with only 3mths till launch, you know them all) or a word or two on potential 'expansion' packs, if you're at least working on the 'physics' of water, the water rides your looking to eventually include, weather, seasons, wildlife (ducks, swans etc) the transport rides, what other themes will there be, shop types, now I'm not expecting any of these come alpha3, but a little acknowledgement of some sort regards what your actually working on, and what we can expect, would be appreciated [happy]

It was already stated that the water would not have real physics, which is a bit disappointing since you really can't get natural looking rafting rides, log flumes, etc.

2. In the create stream you said you could even create your own supports, but theres a problem, collision detection between scenery and rides is a mess and some pieces like vegetation had some wonky hitboxes that dont let them even somewhat near a track or flat ride. Can we have collision detetction between rides and scenery taken out to expand creativity? Also we would really need a new nongrid base colorable beam if you want to create diagonal supports, becuase right now the beams are grid base and dont have full rotation.

In Olli43's stream today it was mentioned that some of the hit boxes still need to be adjusted. Go to 42:43 in the link to hear the specifics. Also realize you're about 4-5 minutes of audio ahead of the video so what's being said has no correlation to what you're seeing. It's hardly an assurance they'll fix them the way you want but they're cognizant of the problem.

See I think the management is a big step forward based on the foundations they have created and I thought Silveratte did was slow and turned it off but loved what Oliie did with the stream so I think they have done well to cater for everyone with different styles in honesty.

Second day on Gamescom today. We got a developer stream talking about managing our parks, and two community streams with fans playing the game.

During the developer stream, some of the following subjects were discussed.

The management overlay, tabs and quick views.
Coaster live stats and monetization.
Coasters and rides economics (building and maintenance cost).
Fast passes, and how they will work.
Guest thoughts, needs and behavior management.
Staff overview (vendors, janitors and mascots were shown), training and motivation.
ATM usage.
Path extras (benches and trash bins) and how they tie in to the simulation.

Seven new videos were posted on the Frontier youtube page. I think the whole stream will also be available later there.

Wow, those guests should all play basketball! 5 or 6 of them all with no-look shots into the bins from 15 feet out and they all sink it!

When will all of today's streams be on the official youtube page? Hopefully before the end of the day unlike yesterdays streams:/

I don't know if this has been answered already, but will the coasters have cameras for on-ride photos. Will there be a photo booth after you get off of the ride?

I love the Janitor, but honestly it would be more credible if he had thse kind of shovel+broom thing rather than a (gigantic) brush broom for interiors:

But that's just a detail.[happy]
