Planet coaster for MAC?

Mac user running Windows in Bootcamp

Hey XlucarioX,

Planet Coaster is currently only being developed for Windows PC's. You could try BootCamp to play Planet Coaster on your Mac, but do know that it is not officially supported.

Hi there!

I'm a Mac user, running Windows in Bootcamp! It's a 2013 27" iMac with what was a high spec for the time, and the game runs fine. The resolution is locked, which is annoying, but I can run the game in medium-to-high setting without much in the way of lag. Not sure how well it'll work on a Macbook Pro, though.

Great to hear that. While a Mac is not officially supported, the game may very well work on a Mac using Bootcamp.

Enjoy the ride! : )

I also have only a Mac. Macs are not for gaming probably, that's why I'm going to buy a newer pc. Windows, of course ahahhahahaha

Wll'p,

I'm learning pieces of info, a little at a time. I love my mac, but am getting the guidance (from here and elsewhere) that the full sized single-slot top list graphics cards can outperform my dual cards. I guess it's time to save up for a new Mac Pro. This week they've announced a new Mac Pro to be released sometime in 2019. It will be a modular unit with a slot fur a full sized graphic card and upgradable CPUs. Although again designed for professional production, hopefully, it will also be adaptable to be a top performance gaming machine. I use my Mac for video editing, music recording and for MIDI production. Yes, gaming is a side option, but still, if Ploanet Coaster would get more serious about Apple OS, we could play this game raw, without a Windows converter. This year, Apple has announced serious upgrades to it's computers, the Mini, the iMac and the MacBook, and their computers are currently outselling the iPads.

Jumping back into this, because I keep getting notification emails. I posted way back in this thread that I'm running a late-2013 27" iMac with beefed up specs, and I'm running Boot Camp with Windows 10 in order to play this. It's a faff, but it works. The game is by no means running at ultra-high resolutions or with all graphics effects turned on, but it looks pretty good, and I'm willing to accept that.

I'm under no illusions that I may only get a year out of this game before it's time to return to the PC fold. Both OSes have their advantages and disadvantages. MacOS is a far easier beast to use for the kind of user that doesn't want to fiddle about with driver updates and compatibility woes (and yes, Mac OS IS compatible with Windows-based software, for the most part), or for creative design work. Windows is far more customisable, flexible and has better support for games by far.

I don't begrudge the dev team not building a native Mac OS version, because it would require a significant investment of resources for very little gain. And besides, having both OSes allows for better understanding of both sets of users, which is always nice [big grin]
