Planet Coaster is coming to consoles 2020....

I'm no console gamer, not sure if I need to be hyped about this.

What's positive is that this must open up new possibilities for DLC's etc.

Will these quality of life updates include controller support for PC? This is the thing stopping me from playing Planet Coaster again and also why I haven't bought Planet Zoo yet!
I have a Steam controller, which works ok but full controller support would really help

They won't, but we do have some limited controller support.

Steam have a Big Picture mode to allow players to sit on the sofa and have some limited controller support, when active you can use the right-thumb-stick as a mouse. They can also download or create their own bindings, so they could bind the left-mouse button to the A button on the Xbox Controller. You can also control the in-game camera and the Ghostbusters ECTO-1 with the controller :)

If a more powerful switch comes it could come I am just upset because Switch is selling like hot cakes and I think Frontier doesn’t even care about the switch because there hasn’t been any games for it yet I don’t know why they not try to port RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 on Switch
If a more powerful Switch came and Planet Coaster was possible on it, they'd still most likely have to make the game work for the original Switch too. Nintendo would probably be similar to how Microsoft works - they require games to run on the original Xbox One, not just the more powerful Xbox One X.

And I wouldn't say Frontier doesn't care about the Nintendo Switch, unfortunately their games are just too demanding for the Switch hardware. As for RCT3 on Switch, I assume that would still be down to Atari to make those kind of decisions?

Do you think p/c on console will be delayed or even canceled
Due to covid?

I don't see why it would be cancelled. Delayed perhaps, but it's anyone's guess until Frontier decides to release more information.

The release was announced for Summer 2020, we still have some time to go. It could be a release at the end of September and that would still be correct. I believe Planet Zoo was initially also announced for a release in the Summer, but it ended up being November.

Thanks for the info. I guess I’m getting scared as no news from frontier. I am just excited to be able to play p/c.

I would be interested to see how Frontier now wants to publicly present the PlanCo console version, after GamesCom this year unfortunately only takes place online in digital form.

For those waiting for some news, there is a live stream happening at 4pm BST (10 minutes at the time of typing) from Xbox showing off a load of new 3rd party games. There is a chance Planet Coaster could show up there and announce a possible release date and maybe even a Xbox Series X version. Take this with a grain of salt, as its just a guess of mine. But considering they announced the game on an Xbox live stream, it could show up again today.
