Hi coaster friends!

It’s time for the first ever Planet Coaster video competition: Commercial Break!

We want to see your parks in a commercial light; show us, and all your potential guests, why your rides and coasters stand out and why we should visit!

Starts: Monday May 15, 2017 (NOW)
Ends: Thursday June 15, 2017 at 23:59PM BST

Top 10 announcement: Friday June 23, 2017 at 14:30PM during a special Facebook Live!
Prize: The winner will feature on all Planet Coaster channels and official website (+ feature interview), as well as receive an Elgato HD60 S capture card and HyperX package (keyboard, headset, mouse mat). The entire top 10 will also receive a signed poster.

Here’s what to do:
Create a park advertisement video between 30 seconds and 90 seconds long. Use voiceover, texts, special effects – be creative with your editing! If you want a musical touch, you can use any of the Planet Coaster soundtrack songs.

Entries will close on Thursday June 15, 2017 at 23:59PM BST.

Due to the nature of the competition, we are limiting this to one entry per person. We will be working with both the Planet Coaster team as well as our video editors to come up with a top 10 that blow us all away. These 10 winners will be shown during our official Facebook Live session on June 23, 2017.
We will be judging based on creativity, quality, and originality, and, especially in case of close calls, will pay attention to editing, narrative, sound design, and composition. Remember, this should feel like an advertisement for your park, so you’ll get extra points for nailing that part of the brief!

Whoever places first will win an Elgato HD60 S capture card, a HyperX goodie bag (keyboard, headset, mouse mat), and their video will be featured across all of our channels, with a special interview and highlight on our Planet Coaster website! All top 10 entries will receive a signed poster.

Dazzle us with excitement and draw crowds of people to your park!

How to upload your video:
Upload your video to YouTube as Public or Unlisted and send the URL of the video to community@frontier.co.uk – make sure to put “Commercial Break” in both your video title and the subject line of your email. Entries will only count if they’re officially submitted to this email address.

[heart] Bo

This sounds like an awesome competition. :)

Good luck everyone! Have fun creating an ad for your park and enjoy playing Planet Coaster while you do!

May the best ad win! :D [up]

I cannot wait to see what people come up with. The creativity of this community is astounding!

I won't be entering as I have yet to actually finish a park [haha]

Good luck to those who enter, and may the best commercial win!

FYI: you DON'T have to upload your park file at all! Even if it's not entirely finished, you can work around that with video editing ;)

[up][big grin] There are some seriously talented creators out there but I'm thinking of giving this a shot!

This sounds really fun!! [up] cant wait to see what people come up with, this is going to kill it for Frontier (free advertising?? lol how awesome is that)

I was thinking when I first read the words "Commercial Break" that Frontier was bringing in a new type of "Dev Diaries" video. Would be cool if you guys did a couple more Dev Diaries :) Maybe discussing the game mechanics more, but I guess you guys do that a lot in your streams already [up] It was cool seeing Bo&Ed on the Schematics Talkshow those guys do a great job!

Wow, cool competition! Rwally a great idea!

I wish all the entries good luck and a lot of fun in doing their videos! Will be very interesting to see what people come up with :)

You know, Frontier, every time I think I can spend my time in another way, you make me find a new reason to sit down and play for hours. I don't know how you do this, but you are freaking good at it :D

Ohhhhh I like this contest.. I'm in.. I didn't have time to make a Go kart track for that one.. but this .. this I can do :) One Vista View Commercial coming up

So one question - you say we are free to edit and use special effects - and you also said we are to use the soundtrack music if we wanted a musical touch.

How about using sound effects? Let's say I needed an animal sound which the game did not contain, but it would help bring the mood along. Am I fine to use that or are you strict on that one? :D

Because we're sharing it on our channels, we'd prefer game sounds only. It wouldn't be a direct disqualification, depending on what you decide. Hope that helps!

Funny, I was going to ask the same thing!

What if we acknowledge the sound was freely available and in the public domain? I was specifically thinking of a door creaking and slamming, which I found on a royalty free public domain site. I assume this would be OK?

Ooh I need to get some more progress done on my current park then!
This sounds like it could be a lot of fun!
