Planet Coaster Productions: Commercial Break

Funny, I was going to ask the same thing!

What if we acknowledge the sound was freely available and in the public domain? I was specifically thinking of a door creaking and slamming, which I found on a royalty free public domain site. I assume this would be OK?

Again, it won't be an immediate disqualification but we'd prefer in-game sounds only.

Can we use copyright free music, for example from: http://freemusicarchive.org ???

No, you can't. We are limiting this to the Planet Coaster soundtrack, as per the rules :). Hope you understand!

Awesome, just the kind of contest i need with my experience as 3D, motion, web & graphic designer...

I do have some questions about sounds/ music, since it's a bit unclear what is allowed and what isn't.
i am a dj/producer in my spare time and know how to create my own music from scratch.

So my questions are:

Are we (am i) allowed to use music/sounds we created ourselfs? as example with programs such as FL studio, Cubase, etc. or even our own music instruments/ voices (recorded)...

If not, are we allowed to mix/remix in-game music/sounds to give it a personal touch? Or do you prefer the original in-game music/sounds?

I understand copyrights can be an issue, certainly when used for commercial use.

I think the best option would be for everyone to use the Planet Coaster Soundtrack ONLY. Saves a lot of hassle trying to clarify and keep it away from copyright etc etc.

Awesome, looking forward to your submission!

We can only accept in-game sounds and Planet Coaster OST. You may edit that music if you want, but nothing else with copyright because the winner will be featured on our channels.

Thanks for understanding [heart]

Hi Frontier. Thanks for this awsome idea.

I also have a little question : english is not my native language, therefore I may use a licensed TTS (Text to speach) software I bought and use for my YouTube videos. Is this allowed ? And if not, in what language can we make voiceover texts ?

Big thanks in advance for your answer.
Kind Regards,
TheRack.

Oh man I CANNOT wait to see the entries for this! If I were any good at video editing I'd love to enter, but I don't have software/skills/time. Good luck to everyone! Can't wait to see what you come up with!

As a thrillseeker i got the soundtrack songs, but where can we find the in-game soundeffects like the kraken roar? Or can't we use them in the video for the competition?

There's no easy way to access those, I'm afraid. I can double check with some of our audio masters but as far as I know you don't have access to those files. You might be able to find a way around it? You're allowed to use them for sure!

Why not film a short clip of just the kracken making it's sound and then cut out the visuals in editing and just use the sound from it? That's how I'd do it.

Two questions before I get started:

1) Can our commercial be for one ride or an entire park?
2) Can we use soundtracks that were designed for the in-game rides (Like Victory and the like), or is it strictly You, Me and Gravity?

I'm excited for this, though!

Hiya, thanks for the questions!

1) Park is preferred, if you have an original way of showing off a ride that's fine too!
2) Yes, all in-game music is allowed!

Looking forward to seeing your submission.

is there a thread were we can post them

Hey BryceFoxdon,

See the rules in the first post of this thread. I have quoted the answer to your question below for convenience.

There is no need to post them in a thread. I'm sure you will be welcome to share the video once the competition is over. I look forward to see the entries for the Commercial Break competition :)

  • Your video must be high quality and be uploaded as Public or Unlisted to YouTube; your submission will only be valid if you send the URL to community@frontier.co.uk with Commercial Break in the subject line.

Hi ! Thank you for this contest ! sound like very funny :D

I have a question : if we must use in game music only for our commercials, where can we get the music please ?
Because if we must doing some video editing, we must have an mp3 or some format that we can use in it.

can you help me please ? :)

The soundtrack of Planet Coaster is available from several digital stores and services. Search for the album "You, Me & Gravity: The Music of Planet Coaster" by Jim Guthrie & JJ Ipsen. The album is included in the Thrillseeker Edition of Planet Coaster, but that edition is no longer available.

You can also use a free screen recorder (like OBS) while playing the game to record some game music and sounds. Then in editing, just delete the video part and use it only as audio.

Ok thanks :)
I have another question : can we make / draw a logo or a mascot for our park, that we can just encrust at the beginning or end of the commercial ?
