Planet going THROUGH a white dwarf jet in a close binary system!

This system is insane!! This is pretty much the sight that greeted me when I arrived - that blue ring below the WD is a Class V gas giant orbiting the white dwarf at a distance of 0.4 ls, and in the screenshot it is going through the white dwarf's jet! The planet's orbital period is only 15 minutes! I'm literally recording a video of it right now - I'll post it up here as a reply when I capture a full orbital period and then I'll take a look at the stats in more details. Amazing stuff though! Has anyone ever seen anything like this (I sure as heck haven't!)?

Please submit an entry to the Galctic Mapping Project. It's a worthy find.

The planet is not a landable I assume? :D

Wait ... are you saying that if two players jump into the same system they'll each see the jet going in different direction? (potentially)
Hm, a good question. I think that the second player will see the direction it was generated for the first player who went in, but this ought to be tested.

You know what come to think of it, I now remember finding a gas giant orbiting a white dwarf or very closely as well, but I remember it not going through the Jets. Of course, now I know why, I found that before 2.2 dropped. I attached a video that I took of that footage as well here, and it'll be interesting for me to visit that system again to see if the Jets are going through it. You may also notice the odd orbit that is very elliptical on the gas giant in the video [1:05]

Although watching the videos it looks like it may actually be a T-Tauri. I will have to go back into my pictures and verify with the system map... Thoughts?

Don't worry, I'll post the system data when I've handed it in!

lol, I was asking primarily to see if it is somewhere I'm likely to visit when you do post the data... Is very far over 30000 Lys? That's currently my max distance from start (and right now I'm back in the bubble!). I did start out on Distant Worlds, but then real life got in the way and it was all over by the time I played E: D again, so I just turned round and came home!

Well, the fact that it's orbit takes it through the jets is what actually makes it worthy of a tourist beacon. Change it's orbit, and it's just a gas giant orbiting really close.

I guess, it just bothers me that it would lose all its atmosphere

The direction of the jets are regenerated each time you jump into the system (they are generated roughly perpendicular to entry direction) as you may remember they changed this because so many cmdrs were getting cooked. It is likely next time someone goes there the jets might not be intersecting the planet.

That being said. Amazing find. Im jelly.

I'd be very surprised if that were the case. I think it would be much easier to leave the stellar forge alone and simply adjust players' drop-out location to avoid the jets.
And great find OP! Thanks for sharing.

Great find CMDR, thanks for letting us know. I'm there now. Some more shots...
