The Solution for cards that have only 2Gb VRAM to have more than a few frames/sec
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
texturequality=medium
terrainquality=medium
restart the client
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I can set the rest to ultra but these two settings has to be medium
to further save vram consider to go from
triplebuffer->>doublebuffer (a few mb)
and
fxaa->>smaa (a few mb)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
consider I am using 2xGTX770 if you use one your increase will go from
15frames/sec->>45frames/sec
instead of
15frames/sec->>60frames/sec
I have a 2GB GTX750 Ti, and it's fine with texture quality and terrain quality set to High. It's actually not too bad on Ultra, but certainly fine on High. Maybe I am playing a lower resolution than you (can't remember offhand what my settings are, but I my supersampling is only at x1.0).
Out of interest Steve50, what CPU are you running?
I have just upgraded from an original Core i7 920 with 6GB RAM to a Core i5 6600K with 16GB RAM.
And a single GTX 970 4GB in both cases.
The result was a jump from a massively variable FPS of anywhere from 24-60.
To a solid 60+ in all cases on Ultra settings.
Suffice to say my machine was considerably CPU bound
So I would say if your CPU is less than the recommended (Intel Core i7-3770K Quad Core CPU or better) you might need to upgrade that
Or any other part of your system for that matter.
It isn´t enough to list your EDH settings, CPU and GPU. RAM could also have an effect and the resolution alone makes a huge difference.
