Horizons Planet variation is non-existent

I remember in the early days of horizons I could find colourful planets with interesting features like high mountains and deep valleys.

Well I've been travelling to Colonia for the best part of a year so far (not much time to play, 20ly Python) and I can honestly say I haven't seen a planet for about 8 months that hasn't been exactly the same. Same colour, same craters, no valleys at all. Same rocks. About the only difference has been size and gravity.

There simply is no difference at all between planets out here in the black. I cant say for the bubble as I have been out of it for so long. What happened?

Majority of all the rock planets have the Valleys and Mountains as do the Ice planets.
30,000ly years from the bubble and on my 4th exploring trip , each lasting 3-5 months i carry out 3rd level scans on 10,000s of planets each trip, i have no trouble finding them. When it comes to high content metal planets then they are more often than not just crater surfaces, but there are some that have high mountains and deep valleys.

OP, its clear that being in the black grining towards the same destination for a year (holy sh*@ a whole year, just to colonia!!??!) and is putting a bit of a damper on your perception of things.

Sure there is the "beige" issue that is impacting landable HMC and MR worlds, but I can assure you that it is not true that all planets and surfaces are exactly the same and that there are no mountains and valleys. I recently climbed a peak that nearly extends to orbit and jumped off into a canyon that is 10,000 km deep.

Rocky Ice worlds FTW!

Plenty of planets with variation out there, best place to look are the smaller rocky or ice worlds, although I have found some amazing high G planets with interesting terrain. 600km radius or lower and you are guarenteed to find interesting terrain, those moons are basically just one huge mountain range.

Maybe I've been unlucky but honestly I can say I end every session by landing on a random planet - don't care which and parking up till the next time and I've not parked anywhere thats not been a beige wilderness or the odd icy wilderness but still hardly any relief or variation in terrain.

Not seen any geysers, or much POIs except the odd downed beacon or satellite. A couple of times maybe a crashed ship.

I've only really done one exploration trip and that was to do my 5,000 ly trip to unlock Palin. I tried to make the most out of the trip and really do some exploring. I started out doing a lot of surface scans and landing on a planet every so often to explorer but after about 3,000 ly I had enough. To me every planet I landed on looked the same, basically beige with some craters and maybe some mountain ranges. I learned at least for now exploring in elite isn't for me.

Based on how few geyser locations there are on a planet .... I think it's less than five, the chances of your finding one are remote. That's another problem we have with the game - we were promised volcanics and look what we got ... if you can find them [knocked out]
